2025: Axelot WMS Implementation

On February 3, 2025, Axelot announced that the AXELOT WMS system was implemented in the warehouse of the First Battery Company.

Warehouse

As reported, the "First Battery Company" trade is the wholesale and retail network of the 1AK-GROUP group of companies. The company's group has been in the market for battery suppliers since 1995. In the portfolio of sold products there are more than 70,000 items of goods, combined into nomenclature groups, the main of which are batteries for cars and cars trucks, motorcycles,, etc electric transport UPS. 1AK stores are located in all regions. Belarus The company also sells a wide range of products through its own Internet store. As of January 2025, the number of buyers and orders is steadily increasing, and the range is also growing. Therefore, the company has a need for a warehouse management tool logistics that allows you to manage cargo processing, effectively use storage areas and record all the actions of warehouse workers. The 1AK management chose AXELOT as such a tool. WMS

Automation was carried out at the warehouse of the First Battery Company in Minsk, which stores batteries, oils, antifreezes, coolants, as well as automotive accessories, tires and discs - only about 5,000 SKUs.

Since the preliminary layout of the system had to be configured based on remote survey data, at the personnel training stage, the previously implemented solution had to be slightly adapted to the actual topology and business processes. Thanks to the flexibility of the AXELOT WMS settings, the adaptation was quick, without the risk of disrupting the project deadlines.

To set up data transfer between WMS and the enterprise information system, the project team used DATAREON Platform.

Warehouse

The typical functionality of AXELOT WMS made it possible to reflect in the system the following features of warehouse logistics of the First Battery Company:

  • During acceptance, the storekeeper scans the barcodes of the pallet and the product using the shipping documentation, confirms its condition, enters the production date, from which the system calculates the shelf life and creates a batch taking into account the shelf life, enters the number of goods. Performs additional marking if necessary.
  • When each pallet is accepted, the system automatically schedules the placement tasks according to the configured strategy. Depending on the type, the storage object is placed in the appropriate zone, cell, or tier. So, for example, batteries and buses are placed by a pallet in special dedicated zones, the exception is "miniBattery," they are placed in the first tier of racks; oils in canisters are stored on racks, in barrels - in the area of floor storage; automotive accessories and spare parts are placed in boxes or piece into the shelf storage area.

  • The placement of goods in cells within the zone is carried out according to the specified planning order at the topology level. This makes it possible to optimize the efficiency of storage space use. The generated placement tasks are performed by the loader driver or storekeeper (depending on the warehouse area).
  • The FEFO method is used to select goods by shelf life. Selection planning depends on the order and the configured cell ratings in the system that affect the selection order. The WMS operator can evaluate the planning results through the Shipment Actual Plan report.
  • The products are assembled using the order selection technology: first, one order is collected, then another, etc. Usually one order is collected by one picker, but in some cases one order can be assembled simultaneously or sequentially by several pickers. For example, if the order contains oil from an outdoor area and a battery from a warehouse.
  • When performing the selection task, the warehouse employee can record the detected deviations in the WMS, whether it is the absence of an article or not enough of it in the selection bin, and others. It blocks the task and indicates the reason, the system plans to select from another cell. After performing a point inventory, the problem cell will be unlocked. After selection, warehouse personnel can carry out an optional order control with the goods recalculation.
  • Shipment tasks are created in the WMS by the operator after the vehicle arrives. Before loading the goods into the machine, the storekeeper selects the shipment order and scans the pallet barcode using the shipping documentation. If it accidentally scans the barcode of the pallet of another order, the system will issue an error message. This eliminates the human factor during the operation.
  • When each pallet is shipped, it is written off from the warehouse stock. When the shipment of the last pallet is complete, the status of the shipment order is automatically changed to Shipped. The corporate information system transmits information about the actually shipped product composition.

With the introduction of AXELOT WMS, the First Battery Company received a modern decision-making tool to manage the warehouse and prepare logistics for further business expansion.
