2024: Optimizing RITM³

The developer of the RITM³ transport planning platform, the SIMETRA group of companies, has updated its solution in Chelyabinsk, significantly expanding the pool of tools for solving transport policy problems. The updated version includes six new modules, including a digital twin, an electronic CSDD and a geo-information system for data collection, storage, analysis and graphical visualization (GIS). Simetra announced this on November 27, 2024.

For the first time, the RITM³ platform was delivered to Chelyabinsk in 2019 as part of the preparation of a program for the integrated development of the city's transport infrastructure. The progressive development of the transport infrastructure and the development of the territory as a whole required the expansion of the functional capabilities of the RITM³ by connecting additional modules.

The RITM³ software update for Chelyabinsk includes modules focused on the comprehensive collection, storage, analysis and visualization of data on the road network and transport infrastructure of the city. This version of the solution will expand the possibilities of managing traffic flows and improve the quality of urban planning.

The updated version has modules for digital twin, transport forecasting and modeling, traffic lights and monitoring the effectiveness of ITS.

Strengthened by the latest versions of the modules, the platform will provide a large set of tools for managing road transport infrastructure as well as generating forecasts based on data. All collected information will be displayed in a convenient form. Data can be accumulated on a map in widget format, a list or on a heat map both for a certain time period and in real time. The module also allows you to form a dashboard for the operation of system elements with the display of information necessary for the user.

The RITM³ platform after the update will become more efficient, flexible and convenient for solving problems in the field of transport management and urban infrastructure planning. Our long-term cooperation with Chelyabinsk allows the city to strategically approach transport policy planning and make timely and competent decisions supported by data, "said Andrey Prokhorov, Technical Director of SIMETRA.

2020: Operation of AI-based systems on the roads of Chelyabinsk

On August 3, 2020, it became known that artificial intelligence systems are operating on some streets of Chelyabinsk. They help to recognize accidents at 7 intersections of the city and automatically report to the ambulance service if the doors of cars do not open after the accident. Representatives of the SMEU traffic police of Chelyabinsk told about this.

SMEU specialists talked about how the city works, situational center which accumulates information about all transport the events in the city. Intelligent Transport System (ITS) combines traffic lights, road signs, monitors the movement of cleaning equipment and public, transport traffic management plans. It helps Chelyabinsk residents to move around the city faster and safer every day: street capacity has increased by 12% in recent years, and Chelyabinsk itself took the last place in terms of traffic congestion in the 2019 ranking Yandex.Traffic jam.

We set a goal - to unite all the services of the city into a single center. Including the traffic police, ambulance, fire departments, municipal services - to collect, analyze and exchange data, as well as output all the necessary information for making management decisions to the mobile devices of the first people of the city and region. It is important that the management of the emergency services has operational information at hand: from a pipe break to an accident, - Igor Belyashov, General Director of SMEU JSC, operator of the situation center in Chelyabinsk, commented on the goals of creating the system.

ITS helps to analyze accident foci. To do this, every week the traffic police transmits to the situation center for analysis updated data on all accidents that occurred in the city. Another feature of the Chelyabinsk IT is the traffic lights combined into a single system, as well as about 600 video detectors for calculating traffic. All received data are collected on one information board displayed on the video wall of the central control point (TSUP) - the situation center.

Operational decisions are also made here that help relieve the city from congestion, reduce road deaths. The intelligent transport system of Chelyabinsk is deployed on the basis of the RITM3 information and integration platform ("Rhythm Cube"), developed by the Russian company SIMETRA.

2019: Implementation of PTV Visum and PTV Vissim

On September 3, 2019, it became known that A + S Transproekt, the Russian competence center in the field of transport flow modeling and transport planning, supplied the PTV Visum and PTV Vissim software products to the Road Administration of the Chelyabinsk City Administration. The software will be used to develop traffic management schemes and track their effectiveness.

Transport models created using the PTV Visum program calculate the forecast of passenger, road, freight flows and help to assess the effect of the implementation of the proposed solutions: the construction of interchanges, the expansion of the roadway, the introduction of routes. PTV Vissim implements the principles of simulation modeling at the micro level, in the process of simulation continuously simulating the movement of each car within the road network, taking into account the given behavioral models. Thanks to the solution, it is possible to simulate networks with different types of nodes and assess the impact of various forms of intersections on capacity, analyze capacity and transport regulation at complex stops, taking into account the movement of trams and buses, and more.

The starting point at this stage of the development of the transport system Chelyabinsk was the participation of the city in the priority project " Ministry of Transport Russia Safe and High-Quality Roads," during which "A + C Transproekt" developed a comprehensive city traffic scheme (KSODD). When submitting the project along with the documentation, we handed over to the customer a static macromodel of the city's traffic flows, which was used by our engineers to evaluate the proposed organizational solutions. The next stage in improving the urban transport system was the delivery of software products PTV Visum and PTV Vissim, which will allow colleagues from the Chelyabinsk Road Administration to fully take advantage of the capabilities of the transport model and the developed KSODD project.

2018: Development of a comprehensive road traffic management scheme in Chelyabinsk until 2032

On October 19, 2018, A + C Transproekt, an expert in the field of transport planning and development of IT solutions for managing traffic flows, completed the development of a comprehensive traffic management scheme in Chelyabinsk for the period up to 2032. Experts have prepared a draft targeted program of events for the five-year period, broken down by year, which in 2018 will be considered by local deputies. The draft program covers almost all groups of users of the transport infrastructure of a modern city and is aimed at improving the safety and ease of movement of city residents.

To comprehensively assess the prospects for urban development of Chelyabinsk, assess the transport situation, assess and rank promising measures for the development of the city's transport infrastructure, A + S Transproekt specialists have developed a multimodal transport model of the city, which has been transferred to the customer and, in the future, may become the core of the city's IT (intelligent transport system). To improve traffic management, simulation simulations were carried out and optimization options were proposed for the 16 most problematic transport nodes. Some of the proposals for October 2018 have already been implemented.

The working team of the project came to a firm conviction that for the convenience of residents of Chelyabinsk and the effective development of urban business, it is necessary to comprehensively approach the organization of traffic. And besides the obvious social results, the city will also receive a significant economic effect.

As part of the project, experts used the PTV Visum software product for modeling, as well as some modules of their own development, the RITM3 software complex, the official commercial release of which will take place in November 2018. The PTV Visum software package is designed to create mathematical transport models that help evaluate different options for the development of transport systems in cities of any size, as well as regions and states.
