Gazprom began using robots to detect methane leaks

In October 2024, it became known that Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk LLC, together with Cognitive Pilot, presented a robotic mobile platform designed to detect methane leaks at production facilities. The new development, called the "Robotic multifunctional mobile crawler," passed the first stage of testing in September 2024 at the Volodino compressor station.

According to Zoom.cnews, the robotic platform is a cab-free unmanned vehicle equipped with a Russian-made laser gas analyzer from Pergam Engineering JSC. The device uses satellite navigation, RTK tags and computer vision for accurate positioning.

General Director of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk LLC Vladislav Borodin noted that the use of robotic vehicles based on domestic artificial intelligence technologies can significantly facilitate the work of personnel during equipment inspections and routine operations.

The crawler robot belongs to the class of hybrid machines. Its mass is 0.95 tons, and its dimensions are 1.5x1.5x2.2 m. The device is equipped with a gasoline generator with a spark arrester and electric motors, which provides an almost unlimited range. The maximum operating speed of the platform reaches 25 km/h.

In addition to the main function of monitoring the condition of equipment, the robotic platform is capable of performing auxiliary tasks, such as clearing the area of snow and garbage, mowing grass, transporting trailers and equipment.

Olga Uskova, CEO of Cognitive Pilot, emphasized the uniqueness of the development and its potential for application in various industries, from agriculture to public utilities. The company plans to start mass production of mini-tractors based on this platform for the Russian[1]

Plan for the development of an automated and analytical system for corporate transport

On February 27, 2024, a Tomsk tripartite agreement was signed between LLC Administration of Tomsk Region"" and Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk the company Cognitive Pilot on the development of high-tech industries in the region, the introduction of systems (AI artificial intelligence) and unmanned transport systems, as well as the implementation of joint projects on the basis of the Information and Technological Polygon for the Development of Digital Technologies for Trunk Transport on the gas basis Gazprom of Transgaz Tomsk LLC, the decision to create which was made in 2023 PJSC Gazprom.

As part of the agreement, Cognitive Pilot will develop automated and analytical systems for corporate transport of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk LLC that meet the specifics of the fleet, the peculiarities of its operation in the gas industry and geographical conditions.

The project participants believe that the implementation of the agreement will improve security by using promising domestic digital technologies based on AI and unmanned systems.

The main task of AI is to help a person, first of all, in those zones where his work is most difficult, where he is associated with risks and difficulties. Together with our partners, we decided to create and implement advanced domestic AI technologies for corporate transport Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk in order to solve the most important task - to ensure traffic safety in harsh Siberian conditions and robotize human labor in hazardous industries. To implement the project, we open our own legal entity in the SEZ of a technical and innovative type in the region. We plan to present the first prototypes of products within a year. We plan to increase the production capacity of our production of software and hardware systems for autopilot by 5 times over three years. The total economic effect of the implementation of the joint project may exceed 32 billion rubles,
said Olga Uskova, CEO of Cognitive Pilot.
