2024: Galenos.AI pilot implementation
Tyumen to policlinic In will detect oncology be with. AI
The pilot project for the use of a special service from the company TECHLAB"" was launched city polyclinic No. 8 in Tyumen in and will last six months. This was announced TECHLAB by "" on November 15, 2024.
The prevalence of cancer in Russia is growing rapidly. At the end of 2023, in the Tyumen region, 7.5 thousand people were first diagnosed with cancer, while two years ago this number was 28% less. The most common diseases were malignant neoplasms of the breast, skin and body of the uterus in women, as well as the prostate, trachea, bronchi and lung - in men. However, indicators of detectability also indicate a positive trend in the Tyumen region - improving methods of diagnosing oncology and increasing the number of preventive measures for the population.
The development of this area was a new initiative implemented by the St. Petersburg IT TechLAB company, which develops digital services health care for state medical organizations in 16. regions of the Russian Federation
Over the next six months, doctors at the clinic will use an artificial intelligence service - Galenos.AI from the TechLAB IT company - which helps to analyze alarming symptoms and identify oncology at an early stage.
We have developed a digital solution based on artificial intelligence, which can be used by both patients and primary care specialists: therapists and paramedics, - said Vladimir Aleksandrovich Rudchenko, business development manager at TechLAB. - The service is aimed at identifying signs of cancer even before they show themselves. This allows you to quickly refer patients to an oncologist, and most importantly - to improve the quality of their further treatment, because the time and accuracy of diagnosis play a huge role in the effectiveness of therapy. |
According to one of the scenarios, which will be applied in the Tyumen region, the patient scans a special QR code before taking it from the therapist, fills out a questionnaire about his state of health and, upon completion, receives a code that later shows the doctor.
Then the therapist, already during the appointment in his own interface, finds the patient's data by the questionnaire number and sees the recommendations of the AI, which processed the information. If artificial intelligence notices alarming signs, then it recommends that the doctor "be wary" and send this patient for additional diagnosis and admission from an oncologist. So you can quickly exclude the development of oncology or start treatment on time.
Our polyclinic has long been developing the concept of onconference: we actively invite residents of Tyumen to preventive measures and medical examination, conduct screening examinations, an office for early detection of diseases is working in the polyclinic, - said Anatoly Mikhailovich Smolyarenko, chief physician of the Tyumen city polyclinic No. 8. - we will also connect artificial intelligence. Of course, he will never replace the doctor, but he will definitely be able to become an assistant for him. Doctors of polyclinic No. 8 will now take into account the recommendations of the service from TechLAB during the appointment, which will analyze the patient's complaints and signal if additional diagnostics are required. |
AI at the heart of the service analyzes a set of various symptoms - both specific and difficult to formalize (weight loss, weakness and fatigue, fever, night sweats, changes in a smoker's cough, a coma in the throat, etc.) - a total of about 80 predictors.
According to Vladimir Rudchenko, the use of artificial intelligence to analyze medical data allows us to reach a qualitatively new level when collecting the patient's history, forming a clinical picture of the disease and studying the contingent of patients as a whole. It is expected that in the Tyumen region the use of the Galenos.AI service will significantly increase the effectiveness of preventive measures.
In the near future, several other regions of the Russian Federation will join the piloting of the oncology detection service from TechLAB.
