Power Machines complete upgrade of a complex of data storage

On November 25, 2014 the Jet Infosystems company announced upgrade of a complex of data storage of four enterprises of Power Machines company.

Project Tasks

The complex of data storage of Power Machines including DWH is created by CPK and SAN in process of development of the application environment. Each subsystem consisted of diverse hardware which part was not supported by vendors and it complicated operation, and administration. And development plans for the company required accumulation of tanks of storage.

Solving a problem specialists solutions EMC VPLEX, VNX5400 with completely automated multilevel data storage (FAST VP) are selected.

Project Progress

The HSS of EMC VPLEX provided the high level of mobility at the expense of a possibility of movement of applications and virtual machines, and the storage system of EMC VNX5400 allowed to increase performance and to guarantee the continuity of business processes. An opportunity became important advantage of VNX5400 not only to reduce total cost of ownership, but also to simplify infrastructure management.

Implementation of new technologies demanded to reorganize the storage area network: the SAN switches replaced with new – standard 16G.

Upgrade affected a backup system: on the remote platform the second segment of SRK is created, it is implemented by software for EMC NetWorker backup, the EMC Data Domain system with the VTL function is installed. For November 25, 2014 fresh backup copies are stored in the main DPC on virtual tape library and can be recovered quickly. Periodic reservation of data in the second data center reduces risks of loss of information in case of accidents in the main DPC.

Project Results

Specialists of integrator created distributed system of backup with a possibility of placement of archives on the remote platform that helps to protect data from accidents in the main DPC. All infrastructure updates are carried out without interruption of business processes. According to the results of implementation selection of resources for applied tasks accelerated, reliability of storage increased, administration of DWH became simpler.

In a project deliverable the modern management concept by storage resources on the basis of technologies of virtualization of EMC is implemented.
