2021: Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform Container Management System Deployment
On June 8, 2021, IT company Jet Infosystems announced the implementation of the container management system Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. It is expected that the transition to container technologies will help DB Sberbank JSC constantly improve remote service services. As of June 8, the decision supports the work of online banking, which is used by more than 850 thousand people.
The year 2021 for Sberbank in Kazakhstan is marked by the transition to an updated version of online banking. For this, the bank needed a container management system. Introduction of an orkestrator of Red Hat OpenShift was executed by the team of engineers "Information systems Jett", having experience of implementation of similar projects.
"We are constantly improving the customer experience, and the role of digital services in this is difficult to overestimate. The transition to an application with a microservice architecture is another step towards the cardinal development of mobile banking. This opens up prospects for us to withdraw new functionality: we will accelerate Time-To-Market without affecting the interaction of customers with the bank, "said Nursultan Taskaranov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank JSC. "The contribution of the Jet Infosystems team is significant: engineers deployed the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform in a month, and as soon as possible we began the next cycle of development of our mobile application with a wide range of new features and opportunities for customers." |
The Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is deployed on the bank's IT infrastructure. To ensure online banking operation, additional services stack is installed and configured. We are talking about a data warehouse based on Redis, a Consul-based service mesh from HashiCorp, a Vault secret management system from HashiCorp, distributed transaction storage in Apache Kafka, tracking of Jaeger-based services, as well as a means of storing and searching for ElasticSearch logs and a Prometheus monitoring system.
The created ecosystem allows the customer to develop new services in a container environment with strict safety and reliability requirements. Red Hat OpenShift clusters operating in a failover configuration provide a quick change in the functionality of online banking, including the withdrawal of new products along with guaranteed availability of services for end users, noted in "Jet Infosystems."
"The business is undergoing a global transition to container technologies. At the same time, everywhere our customers with different geographies of presence and from different industries face a huge shortage of qualified specialists in the field of DevSecOps. And with this, most often our cooperation with customers in most projects begins, "said Alexander Krasnov, head of the DevSecOps laboratory of Infosystems Jet. - The final chord of the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform deployment and the necessary components for its operation in Sberbank in Kazakhstan was the preparation of a package of documents on working with the system, description of settings parameters, operating principles of each additional IT tool. Now the bank's IT team has everything it needs to develop the ecosystem of microservices with its resources. " |
The container management platform supports online banking development, testing, and production environments. The Jet Infosystems service team accompanies the system, responsible for monitoring its condition, working out incidents and advising bank employees on operational issues.
