VTB starts the main DPC on infrastructure of Huawei

2016: The announcement of date of start of DPC of VTB in Moscow

VTB in July, 2016 will put in Moscow into operation the new DPC which is already positioned as central for this banking group. The senior vice president of VTB Dmitry Nazipov^[1] reported about it^[2].

According to the top manager, in DPC the equipment of the Chinese company Huawei is used. In total 226 server racks with electric power up to 20 kW on everyone were placed. Also cabinets of power distribution of Power Distribution Cabinet PDU 8000, modules of power distribution of Rack Power Distribution Unit PDU 2000, NetCol 5000 conditioners were involved. Cumulative power of DPC is 2040 kW.

The data center preparing for opening, according to Nazipov, will become the third platform of VTB after DPC of VTB 24 at the Southern subway and DPC of VTB on Vorontsovskaya Street in Moscow. "Still there are server rooms in different buildings, but they have more likely technology character. In them, in particular, the communication equipment providing functioning of these buildings is placed".

In the first two DPCs infrastructure was constructed using the equipment APC by Schneider Electric. In the summer of 2016 VTB is going to carry out full certification of new DPC on Tier III regarding fault tolerance of infrastructure.

Project details

As Nazipov notes, agreement signature with Huawei took place at the end of 2015. The first supplies of equipment began in January, 2016, and its installation was performed from February to May. Now to DPC communication channels are laid.

The data center is based on Perovskoye Highway (in the industrial zone, behind the Third Ring Road) therefore in VTB it received the name of DPC Perovo. As Nazipov specified CNews, it will have no specialization, it just will become one more equivalent location of resources of VTB Group. "We profess methodology 'colocation' — the companies of group have the general DPCs. And, for example, in our DPC on Vorontsovka both the equipment of VTB, and VTB 24, and leasing, and factoring, and insurance, and the other companies of group is placed — he says. — It allows us to manage reliability and cost of placement".

The premises under DPC which is owned by VTB bank were built up from scratch in 2015 for half a year. The electric power from two independent substations is brought to it, but also in it also powerful diesels are placed.

As it appears from the documents posted on the website of state procurements the tender^[3] on accomplishment mounting and balancing and commissioning for creation of the engineering systems of this object was held by VTB in August, 2015. At the starting price of the contract in one billion p1.909 the agreement was signed with I-Teco company for one billion p1.902.

Information on cost of the equipment of Huawei placed in DPC, according to Nazipov, also is open, however, as showed monitoring of the website of state procurements, in an explicit form it on it is not provided.
