2024: IT infrastructure migration to Astra software

Astra Group on January 21, 2025 announced the successful completion of the project for the integrated migration of the IT infrastructure of VILO Belarus, a manufacturer of industrial pumping equipment, a division of the global group of companies WILO SE (Germany). The migration process, which includes replacing infrastructure POMicrosoft with Astra Group solutions, was carried out in just three months.

As part of the strategy of creating a technologically independent IT infrastructure, VILO Belarus carried out a complete transition to domestic software, which also included the change of business and production systems, which allowed the company to ensure uninterrupted operation and increase the level of information security. Earlier, a similar project on integrated import substitution of infrastructure software was carried out in the Russian division of VILO Rus, and the Belarusian office was guided by the approaches and experience of Russian colleagues.

Now, in terms of IT infrastructure, VILO units in Russia and Belarus work on the basis of the same software products, which greatly simplifies the tasks of administration in the Minsk office - if necessary, this can be done remotely from Russia. All tasks of developing new IT solutions are effectively solved during direct interactions between the two representative offices.

As an alternative to Microsoft software, Astra Group infrastructure software products such as operating system Astra Linux catalog service, ALD Pro corporate mail, RuPost system, backup RuBackup employee mobile workplace, PC WorksPad SV and Brest cloudy platform were introduced. Astra Cloud Business applications, Knomary office packages, messengers and tools, tools information security for managing networks from third-party developers, were also deployed. As of January 2025, the customer is testing the Termidesk management platform from the company virtual desktops "" (part of Uveon - Cloud the Astra Group).

The project was carried out by a team that included specialists from Astra Consulting (Astra Group) and IT specialists from the customer. The work started in June 2024, after the successful completion of migration in the Russian division of VILO Rus. In August 2024, a test bench was deployed and full-scale testing of the new infrastructure based on the Russian software stack was carried out. Finally, on August 25, 2024, the user workstations were migrated and the IT infrastructure was transferred to a new productive loop.

Upon completion of the project, the customer received a number of advantages. First of all, this is a reduction in IT time. Now IT infrastructure management is carried out locally, without the need to contact foreign offices. The use of domestic software reduces the risks associated with possible sanctions restrictions. All divisions of the company operate on a single technology platform, which simplifies administration and support.

This project is strategically important not only for the customer, but also for ourselves. The full-scale transition to domestic software not only increased the sanctions stability of the business of VILO Belarus, created the foundation for further growth and scaling already on the basis of domestic software products, but also demonstrated the capabilities of Russian IT solutions at the world level. As an executor of the project, we have gained useful experience that will allow us to assist in the comprehensive localization of IT by all interested customers. And the deadlines in which we managed to implement it can serve as an excellent metric of the quality of our work, "said Timirbulat Sultanaliev, General Director of Astra Consulting.
