WorksPad Update 1.3.0 for Android and iOS and WorksPad Server 5.4.0

On February 6, 2024, RuPost announced the release of two updated versions of the enterprise mobility management application components WorksPad - a client of the WorksPad corporate workplace version 1.3.0 for Android and iOS and the server side of the WorksPad 5.4.0 software package.

WorksPad

According to the company, when preparing the release of the WorksPad mobile client, the developers added the ability to customize the application in accordance with user preferences. We are talking about functions such as configuring swipes in mail, the ability to select individual mail folders for receiving push notifications about incoming emails, as well as improving the security and stability of the application. Now a user of a device running Android and iOS can configure the program's response to a swipe in the list of emails, delete the selected message, flag it, move it to another folder, or change the read mark in it. The selection of specific folders for receiving notifications is available only on the mail server running Microsoft Exchange or RuPost and if there is a WorksPad server part at least 5.4.0.

Authentication in WorksPad 1.3.0 has become more secure. Support for one-time code based on the TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password Algorithm) algorithm has been implemented. According to the security settings configured by the WorksPad 5.4.0 server administrator, the mobile client will require the user to enter code from the authenticator application. Two-factor authentication may be required both at the initial launch of WorksPad, and at the login after a long break in the use of the mobile application.

Search capabilities have expanded - it has become more structured. The desired letter can be found at the sender's address, words in the "Subject" field, text in the body of the letter. The search setting also allows you to perform it only on attachments or on specific folders. Thanks to the implementation of such functions, working with mail in WorksPad approaches the capabilities of the RuPost Desktop client. It became possible to save letters in EML format, and then send them to the addressees as an attachment. This was requested by many customers whose companies use the forwarding of related letters in the form of attachments as a standard of corporate correspondence.

Of the updated Calendar features in the Android version of WorksPad 1.3.0, you should note the different display styles for accepted, canceled and other events. In both Android and iOS versions of the application, you can now create an appointment with the selected contact. Android device users will be able to unpack 7z archives. The built-in Android browser of WorksPad 1.3.0 supports self-signed certificates.

Updates to the WorksPad server side are 5.4.0 partially related to WorksPad 1.3.0 client tasks. This is support for selecting mail folders for the user to receive push notifications, an updated policy "Autocomplete session when the user is idle," as well as two-factor authentication. The WorksPad 5.4.0 server administrator configures a One-Time Code Connection (TOTP) for each user and registers the private key for that user in the authenticator application.

File:Aquote1.png
As a developer of a corporate mobile operating system, it is very important for us to participate in our ecosystem of companies that have already proven themselves in the corporate mobility market. Interaction with such partners is one of the key areas of our work. MobilityLab of 's WorksPad solution will greatly expand the Sailfish Mobile OS RUS ecosystem and provide our users with an effective tool for safe and productive work.
File:Aquote2.png

MobilityLab announced official support for a secure mobile platform based on Sailfish Mobile OS RUS and announced the WorksPad mobile client for Sailfish. This is the first enterprise application on the platform, created using technology and the Python language. The technological potential accumulated by MobilityLab and Open Mobile Platform opens up opportunities to expand the ecosystem of the Russian mobile platform and reduce the cost of developing application software necessary for the public sector and business to solve the problems of digitalization and import substitution.

According to the company, the first version of WorksPad for Sailfish is scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2019 and will be able to operate in two modes:

  • Self-contained file manager for mobile platform with basic file management functions on mobile device
  • a client of a standard WorksPad server with access to internal file resources and document libraries and support for document synchronization between users' work PCs and mobile devices in a secure "enterprise dropbox" scenario.

WorksPad for InfoWatch Traffic Monitor

WorksPad 2.0 Integration Module for InfoWatch Traffic Monitor allows customers to control transmission data through all communication channels supported by WorksPad. To detect unauthorized use, the enterprise information server WorksPad sends documents leaving the secure perimeter of the company for analysis to the DLP InfoWatch Traffic Monitor system. The integration the Russian of developer solutions allows you to expand the controlled perimeter of the company and monitor information exchange, which is carried out using:

  • mobile clients Android, iOS, Sailfish, including WorksPad X
  • WorksPad User Portal and External Access Portal
  • Enterprise Chatbots and Micro Applications Deployed on WorksPad

File:Aquote1.png
InfoWatch TrafficMonitor allows you to prevent data breaches and minimize internal information security threats from employees of organizations. The number of channels through which communications within organizations are carried out is constantly increasing, and we are continuously improving our products and adjusting them to changing business processes. For example, we protect the transfer of information through mobile devices in various ways, both through our own mobile agent, trusted firmware and "breakdown" work, and through integration with specialized third-party products. Together with MobilityLab, we have already implemented a project to ensure secure work with corporate resources on smartphones and tablets. This round of cooperation is aimed at expanding the secure corporate perimeter in companies, which includes data transfer from mail servers, file sharing services, mobile agents and corporate chats on WorksPad platforms.

WorksPad X iOS

WorksPad X complements classic WorksPad clients by providing user experience and proprietary UI for tablets and smartphones. WorksPad X client features:

  • Classic: mail, contacts, calendars, files/documents, browser
  • Updated: built-in integrated client of chatbots and micro-applications

Supported mail systems are Microsoft Exchange and Communi Gate Pro.

A distinctive feature of WorksPadX client applications is support for various visual representations of letters, files, calendars, which allow you to work both in the usual compact mode, familiar from consumer mail applications, and in an updated - detailed view reminiscent of a social network feed, without leaving which you can answer letters here, work with attachments and perform other required actions. The innovation of MobilityLab in the organization of the WorksPad X user interface is a tool for navigating letters using the pop-up date bar. WorksPadX also supports various color themes, including light and dark. Usability testing and feedback processing by closed groups of real business users have proven the promise of these approaches in the processing of e-mail offered by WorksPadX.

The first release of WorksPad X is scheduled for the second half of 2019.

The development of specialized mobile applications that take into account the possible configurations of circulation systems of the class, ECM,, and BPM CRM financial analysts specialized business applications may require tens and hundreds of millions of rubles. The development of such systems on all three mobile platforms - Android, iOS and Sailfish is not only extremely labor-intensive, but also requires special expertise both in mobile development and in information security.

At the same time, corporate users and civil servants in their ordinary life actively use modern instant messengers and are used to solving many problems through chat bots and the associated class of integrated micro-applications. However, the use of consumer messengers for business purposes, as cloud platforms of chatbots with information stored in an inaccessible jurisdiction, raises not only questions, but often directly violates regulatory norms in Russia, the European Union (within the framework of GDPR) and many other countries of the world.

WorksPadAssistant

The WorksPadAssistant platform is a significant step in the development of Russian means of operational and secure work with corporate systems and resources that do not have mobile clients. As an expansion of the basic server infrastructure of WorksPad, this platform gives corporate developers and integrators the first toolkit in Russia for building secure chat bots and micro-applications with a rich user interface.

File:Aquote1.png
Open APIs of the WorksPadAssistant platform, the use of one of the most developed and modern 100% open technologies Microsoft Adaptive Cards, a high-level scalable architecture and technology of applied communications based on the WorksPad protocols and, of course, full control of the platform source code by a Russian developer ("MobilityLab") - all this turns the WorksPadAssistant platform into a real basis for building a mobile digital ecosystem enterprise.

Sergey Orlik, CEO and Co-Founder of MobilityLab
File:Aquote2.png

All current WorksPad client applications, regular WorksPadX clients and the WorksPad web client are expanded with the built-in WorksPadAssistant client and provide a unified user experience with chat bots and micro-applications that are deployed on WorksPad servers (within the organization or on the site of a trusted service provider). A wide range of browsers are supported, including platform-specific ones specific to iOS and Sailfish. A visual form designer is available for designing forms ("cards") for displaying and entering data for developers.

WorksPadAssistant is deeply integrated into the infrastructure of the WorksPad software complex and takes full advantage of information security features - profiles and security policies, access delimitation, integration with InfoWatchTrafficMonitor and much more.

An additional important functionality of the platform is the ability to use it both on internal and public websites of companies with deep integration with corporate systems.

WorksPadAssistant micro-applications have an advanced user interface

To use WorksPadAssistant on public resources, the platform offers a special "widget" that is embedded on site pages and is ready to solve a whole range of business problems:

  • recruitment;

2015

New version and renaming to WorksPad

In February 2015 , "MobilityLab" announced the release of a new generation of its flagship application. The company notes that it implements an approach that international experts define as the corporate mobility trend for 2015 - moving away from individual narrowly focused applications towards complex multifunctional solutions on mobile devices.

The new version of the product is a boxed enterprise mobile solution, which, in addition to the main functionality - tools for working with files - now contains a fully functional email client, including integrated mail, calendar and corporate address book. All this functionality is combined into a mobile workplace on a tablet or smartphone, with a scalable backend, which, in turn, integrates into the corporate IT and information security landscape .

With the release of the new version, the solution, known as MobileSputnik, received a new name - WorksPad (WorksPad). The change of name in the company is associated, first of all, with the fact that the product will be sold not only in Russia, but also abroad: a more neutral name and the lack of indication of Russian origin in it, as expected, should contribute to the development of foreign business. MobilityLab explains this by the fact that, despite the rather positive attitude towards Russian startups in the world as a whole, the prospects for doing business with Russian companies are often considered with caution.

Screenshot of WorksPad

The company added that the previous name of the solution will remain only for a special protected version of the solution for Russian customers.

Tagir Yapparov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ATI Group of Companies, said that by the time the new version of the solution was announced, about $3 million had been invested in its creation and launch to the market. The company expects that this business area in Russia will become profitable in 2015, and abroad in two to three years.

MobilityLab plans to bring a new, cloud version of the solution to the Russian and foreign markets. Unlike the standard sale of a product to the customer's infrastructure, this version will be distributed as one of the options in the cloud service provider service that leases the infrastructure to the customer.

Entering the international market

Together with the announcement of WorksPad in February 2015, Mobility Labs announced that the product is being launched internationally. Tagir Yapparov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AI Group of Companies, told TAdviser that the main focus in foreign sales is on the European market. He added that as of early 2015, there is an English version of the product, and plans to release a German-language version of WorksPad.

To develop a business abroad, it is necessary to build a partner network. Tagir Yapparov told TAdviser that the company has been developing it for the last one or two quarters. Pilot projects are underway with a number of companies in which potential partners try the product. According to Yapparov, it will take about one year to create a working partner network abroad.

Answering TAdviser's questions, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of AiTi Group noted that the partner network is considered in two sections. The first is technological. WorksPad integrates with platforms of various vendors (IBM, Citrix, Symantec, Good Technology), and the latter are product promotion channels: by posting information about WorksPad along with information about new versions of their platforms on electronic platforms, they thus provide a stream of requests from customers.

This also includes partners whose functional solutions complement WorksPad. As an example, Yapparov cited cooperation with a large English manufacturer that produces software to automate the work of the board of directors from a tablet. For this, the WorksPad manufacturer is a complimentary solution that allows the board of directors to work with unstructured information remotely - a functionality that is not available in the information system itself.

In addition, the partner network will include system integrators and service providers.

WorksPad supports Android 5

On May 29, 2015, MobilityLab announced the compatibility of the WorksPad mobile workplace with Android 5.x Lollipop versions.

WorksPad mobile clients are adapted to work on all common tablets and smartphones, including phablets.

The concept of WorksPad, as an integrated mobile workplace, in combining the key functionality for the daily work of business users into a single application:

  • mail,
  • calendar,
  • corporate address book and contacts,
  • access to enterprise shared folders,
  • file manager,
  • office format file editor,
  • tools for conducting paperless meetings.

This approach to organizing the system, according to the vendor, increases performance and ensures the safe separation of business information and personal data.

MobilityLab has adapted WorksPad to the form factor of devices running Android 5.x, taking into account the specifics of scenarios for simultaneously working with documents, e-mail, and using the office document format editor.

"Support for integrated scenarios with corporate mail, file resources and document libraries enables information workers to make the most of smartphones and tablets on the go." Mail an archive with subdocuments, unpack it, open and edit the document, sending an updated version to the shared workspace of the SharePoint document library - all of which can be done in one application. In the usual "consumer" world, Dropbox, Gmail, Word would need to use an average of 4 to 6 applications in the absence of the ability to protect the perimeter of the organization from uncontrolled information leaks, "said Sergey Orlik, CEO of MobilityLab
.

"

WorksPad is included in the ActiveCloud by Softline cloud solutions directory

ActiveCloud added WorksPad, developed by MobilityLab, to its cloud application catalog in September 2015. As a result, customers have the benefits of using a "cloud" mobile workplace that does not require the purchase and configuration of additional equipment and software.

Providing the WorksPad application from the ActiveCloud cloud will be especially interesting for customers who use Microsoft enterprise services in their daily work, in particular, Exchange and SharePoint, etc.

Each installation is deployed on dedicated independent resources, which guarantees its safety and absolute isolation for the customer.

The first WorksPad customers as services from ActiveCloud have the opportunity to use the solution for free for three months, after which they will be able to decide on the use of the service on a commercial basis.

"The number of" mobile "employees is growing every year. And by introducing a new cloud service, we want to attract new customers by offering them a secure and secure solution.
