The ABC of Taste has introduced warehouse robots that check the remnants of goods and themselves enter data into the IT system

Customers: Alphabet of Taste (City Supermarket)

Moscow; Trade

Contractors: Yandex Robotics

Project date: 2025/07

The Azbuka Vkusa supermarket chain has launched an automated inventory system based on robot inventories from Yandex Robotics in a Moscow warehouse. The devices independently check the availability of goods, check information with the warehouse management system and automatically make adjustments when non-conformities are detected in the credentials. The robotization of the inventory process made it possible to speed up the check of balances and reduce the number of errors in warehouse accounting. Representatives of the company announced this on July 31, 2025.

The inventory from Yandex Robotics operates at the ABC Vkusa warehouse according to the subscription model and checks product balances twice a week. The device is equipped with lidar, cameras and two types of sensors - ultrasonic and security systems.

Technical equipment allows the robot to independently move around the warehouse, read data from pallets in storage bins and synchronize the received information with the warehouse management system. Previously, employees manually checked product balances, now the robotic system performs these tasks without stopping logistics processes.

Automation frees staff from data collection and high-rise work in the warehouse. The robot is able to work continuously, without requiring interruptions and without being subjected to a human factor, which can lead to errors in the counting of goods.

According to TAdviser in Yandex, in addition to the ABC of Taste, this robot is used by the Perekrestok chain of stores, the logistics company STA Cargo, etc. The robot on average reduces the number of errors in accounting for goods by 70% and reduces the cost of inventory for customers by 80%, the company says.

Yandex also cited data from a joint study with Industrial Robotics (formerly Kuka in Russia), according to which 88% of large and medium-sized businesses plan to use mobile robots in warehouses, and 71% - to introduce 10 or more such devices. 78% of the survey participants formed internal robotics teams, 48% allocated budgets, another 11% are at the preliminary assessment stage.

Vice President for Logistics of Azbuka Vkusa Sergey Golubkov noted that the logistics division of the retail chain solves the problems of the shortage and growing cost of warehouse personnel by using robotic technologies. At the first stage, robotization was introduced in auxiliary warehouse processes.

Golubkov listed the directions of the initial introduction of robots: cleaning the premises, inventory, issuing IT equipment to employees, moving goods between warehouse buildings and other functions. In the second stage, the company plans to robotize the main processes of the warehouse.[1]
