History

2014: Gemalto buys SafeNet company

In August, 2014 the Gemalto company buys SafeNet for $890 million, Wall Street Journal reports. In the long term acquisition of the developer will allow to increase number of operations on data protection of the European companies and to expand the customer base at the expense of the large American companies.

On August 8 Gemalto stated that SafeNet providing protection of a data network including at the expense of the cryptographic systems used in cloud security will strengthen a technology component of the company.

In Gemalto which announced receiving $3.21 million income in 2013, consider that the transaction will allow to increase operating profit by 10% by 2017. Acquisition happens against the background of the growing demand for products which provide protection of confidential digital information.

2012: SafeNet sells one of divisions

The SafeNet company announced in the fall of 2012 the conclusion of the final agreement about sale of the division on development of solutions for government structures to the unnamed buyer. The transaction which is at the final stage now and undergoes all necessary approvals, including obtaining necessary permissions from regulating authorities will be closed at the end of 2012. Financial terms of transaction are not disclosed.

Sale of division is performed in full accordance with the long-term strategy of SafeNet focused on development of corporate solutions for data protection, including for protection of high-valuable information of commercial enterprises, crucial infrastructure of service providers and information of government institutions worldwide. SafeNet will concentrate the efforts on development of solutions and products in the field of data protection and also on development of means of strict authentication for data processing centers, virtual data processing centers and for cloud infrastructure.
