2021: Launch of commercial transportation by unmanned vehicles

2019: Authority to issue IP status for drivers

On July 8, 2019, it became known that the IT logistics company Traft became an operator to issue IP status for its drivers. The company was empowered by Sberbank. In the logistics market, this is a rare case when a transport company actually becomes an agent for the sale of bank services.

Servicing an account for drivers who register as entrepreneurs as part of a joint program with Traft, Sberbank made free for life. All accompanying documents on IP will be independently executed by Traft. Both drivers already working in the company, who have not yet been issued both individual entrepreneurs and incoming employees, will be able to take advantage of the opportunity.

The function is implemented on the basis of the decision of Sberbank ID. The bank uses it to provide single sign-on to the websites of its partners and to access the bank's services by password from Sberbank Online.

Traft follows all the latest trends in the fintech market and creates a logistics ecosystem that is convenient for both contractors and customers. We believe that it is very important not only to set up conditions under which drivers can work with us, but also to help them find employment. This approach allows us to build effective working relationships with drivers, as well as maintain high standards of quality of our services,

According to him, the possibility of creating a similar partner model for leasing and remote equipment insurance is also being worked out with Sberbank.

Obtaining IP status for cooperation with transport enterprises is very popular among truck drivers. This simplifies their relationship with freight owners and transport aggregators, as well as financially beneficial. However, the registration procedure remains difficult for the driver: collecting and processing a large number of documents takes a long time and breaks off from work. As a rule, the process is delayed for several weeks or even months. With Traft, you can complete this process completely remotely and in a few days.

2017

Opening of the technology development unit for Traft Lab drones

On October 4, 2017, the Traft transport company announced plans to launch its own technology development unit for unmanned vehicles - Traft Lab. A fully private player, independent of state budget programs in this area, can enter the market for the development and design of unmanned vehicles by the end of 2017, the company noted. The decision to launch its own division was made after the failure of the contract to launch the first unmanned truck in Russia from a large automaker.

Contract breakdown

In the Moscow office of the Traft transport company, which in August this year planned to launch regular cargo transportation on unmanned trucks from Moscow to St. Petersburg and Krasnodar, there was a disruption in the delivery of the drone. The largest domestic automaker, which in March concluded an agreement with Traft for the development of an unmanned truck, disrupted the deadlines, as a result of which the first transportation, originally planned for the end of August 2017, had to be postponed. However, the manufacturer returned all prepayment for the project in exchange for the right to remain anonymous to cover the conflict situation in the media.

The scenario of unmanned cargo transportation includes not only the independent movement of the car, but also the automatic receipt of an order by it with all parameters and addresses, "explained Traft Executive Director Arthur Muradyan, who acts as the head and investor of projects in the new division. - The car remotely receives an order, starts, arrives at the warehouse for loading, after which it makes a flight to the unloading point - this is the cycle of events that we strive for. Unfortunately, one of the leading automakers in our country, having embarked on a commercial basis to convert our truck based on Hyundai Porter, failed to cope with the task, disrupted the deadlines and eventually admitted that the engineering capacities of the car giant still do not allow us to realize the level of autonomy we require. As a result, we resolved the conflict in such a way that the company returns a very solid advance even for large carriers for development, and we do not take its name to the public field, since this will seriously undermine its image, given those public and private projects in which it is already engaged.

Plans

As a result, Traft decided to independently develop an open platform, within the framework of which it will provide automakers, developers and other partners in the field of self-driving vehicles with access to its own intelligent Traft-OnLine transport system, which will perform the function of automatically placing and dispatching transportation orders (passenger and cargo) for drones.

The company plans to adapt the Hyundai Porter serial truck for partially unmanned control and develop a fundamentally new truck on the same platform. The first sketches of the autobot were announced at a closed meeting of experts in the framework of the Comtrans international exhibition of commercial vehicles held in September 2017.

Start Traft Lab

To launch the unit, Traft plans to hire about 20 developers and engineers (according to estimates, the cost of this can amount to up to 15 million rubles) and by the end of the year launch a special office with laboratories and test sites in Moscow on the basis of the design bureau at NITU MISiS. To do this, the company has already rented an additional room in its central office in Moscow with an area of 1200 square meters, which is going to be called Traft Lab.

There is no question of developing our own cars under the Traft brand: the company is going to work in this area in the same way as the American service for ordering Lyft or Uber trips - to use serial cars of automakers and provide them with their own technologies and software for managing freight transportation, Traft-OnLine refining vehicles to the possibility of their unmanned control.

As an additional direction, Traft also does not exclude the creation of devices that will transfer ordinary cars with internal combustion engines to electric drives, especially since the engineers involved in Traft from the Onis design bureau already have a patented system of such technological adaptation. According to the commercial director of Traft Andrei Savin, an unmanned truck on an electric drive will be more effective at the expense of radically better torque and almost no cost for servicing the running elements.

The development of the unmanned truck will be headed by a group of engineers from the design bureau of Man & Technologies lab, created by one of the senior students of MISiS Mikhail Krapivny.

Partnership

Earlier, Traft discussed and concluded a series of partnership agreements in this area: with the Central Research Automobile and Automotive Institute NAMI, Moscow Polytechnic University, National Research Technological University MISiS. As test unmanned vehicles, Traft uses the GAZel Next, Hyundai Porter and the Kia Ceed Pro passenger car, and to test cargo transportation using drones, the company built a special training ground in the village of Shakhovo near Moscow.

Government Support Initiative

On February 7, 2017, Traft proposed a state support program for freight carriers, working on special transport software and sent to the Competence Center for import substitution in the field of ICT and to the Department of High Technology Development of the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation a package of proposals for the implementation of legislative preferences for freight carriers, having pre-installed intelligent supply chain control systems (modifications of SRM systems) in their companies, during government tenders for logistics services.

According to the company, this is the first centralized proposal in Russia on preferences and additional state regulation of the process of public procurement of logistics services offered by domestic transport companies.

A study published in the media in January 2017 reported budget losses of up to 1.5 billion rubles a year on the purchase of freight services. The reason is the lack of a system for accounting for the labor costs of civil servants.

The text of the study says, in particular:... "in Russia, there is still no rigid methodology for calculating real labor costs for the public sector. This creates especially large gaps for corruption in the procurement of freight services, the losses are also aggravated by the actions of the drivers themselves, who, in the absence of a special cargo tracking software from the employer, systematically attribute additional hours of costs to themselves. "

According to the authors of the study, the issue of misuse of budget funds should be resolved in two stages:

  • During the first stage, transport companies that expect to take part in logistics tenders for state customers should be obliged to have pre-installed software that allows real-time tracking of cargo transportation and, therefore, does not allow manipulation with the calculation of labor costs both by the drivers of the carrier and by the receiving party represented by the state customer.

File:Aquote1.png
In the field of logistics and in state projects for freight transportation, executing companies must necessarily install intelligent transport systems - special software that not only automates the work with all documents, but also allows you to set up flexible tracking of cargo in all parts of the supply chain.

  • During the second phase, enforcement measures should be reformatted to place the procurement participants of specialized software into incentive ones.

File:Aquote1.png
At the next stage of the program we have developed, a "voluntary and compulsory" measure to install such software should be turned into a tangible preference for all companies that have installed appropriate systems.

Andrey Savin, Commercial Director of Traft

The mechanics of the implementation of these preferences, according to Traft, can be completely copied from the methodology of encouraging Russian companies as part of the import substitution program being implemented. That is, preferences may consist in the priority choice by the tender organizer of those companies that have the appropriate software, in addition to Russian production.

A high-quality SRM system will help systematize, reduce and simplify unnecessary and duplicating administrative processes, as well as unify all possible documents and iterations in each individual department or department of government that orders transportation services from a commercial company. " In addition, IT systems of labor resources management (HRM) already functioning in government agencies should be adapted, supplemented with modules for analyzing indicators for individual projects and blocks of operations (for example, specifically for logistics). A modern SRM system for logistics should be able to synchronize with other enterprise software.

2005

In 2005, the transport company Traft re-registered as a separate legal entity. Main areas of activity:

  • freight transportation in Moscow,
  • provision of warehouses for temporary storage and cross-docking,
  • delivery of prefabricated cargo in the Russian Federation.
