History

2024: Severstal bought A Group

In early April 2024, Severstal announced the purchase of the A Group metal trader. The sellers in this transaction were the structures of Alexei Zaitsev, who is the founder and general director of A Group.

According to Severstal CEO Alexander Shevelev, as a result of the transaction, the volume of sales of Severstal's distribution division will significantly increase and reach 3 million tons in 2024, which will allow the company to enter the top three players on the market. By April 2024, the product line "A Group" has more than 5 thousand items, over 250 thousand tons of metal products are constantly in warehouses.

The company did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement. Director of Severstal Distribution Victor Romanovsky called the value of the transaction "market" and noted that the assessment was carried out by an independent consultant. According to analysts, the cost did not exceed 10-15 billion rubles, Interfax reports.

Aleksei Zaytsev, commenting on the deal with Severstal, said that thanks to it, A Group had the opportunity for sustainable development for many years, and the metal trade industry was an incentive to dynamically improve the entire metal supply system in Russia.

2022: Fine for cartel conspiracy

On July 27, 2022, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia announced the imposition of a fine of 1.77 billion rubles on the largest suppliers of rolled metal, which, according to the regulator, entered into an anti-competitive agreement in order to maintain prices at the auction.
