2022: Establishing a company

In December 2022, it became known that Yandex registered a new holding company in Armenia and the United States called Beyond ML, within which it is planned to develop international IT projects.

According to RTVI, legally Beyond ML, which owns a dozen technological startups in the field of machine learning (ML) around the world, is registered with top managers of Yandex Maxim Zagrebin and Dmitry Stepanov. However, according to the channel, some employees of the company were told that Beyond ML was created in order to mitigate "country risks" and continue Yandex's work in Europe and the United States. On Zagreb's page on the LinkedIn social network, it is indicated that in March 2022 he finished working at Yandex and became the co-founder of Beyond ML.

Yandex has created a company abroad for the development of international IT projects

The Yandex press service confirmed the creation of Beyond ML and called it an "internal experiment" to promote B2B services and technologies.

The program of internal experiments has been working inside Yandex for many years. In the early stages, independent brands are often used for them, - explained in the Russian IT company.

Karen Ghazaryan, General Director of the Institute for Internet Research, explained to the media that if Beyond ML is legally owned by specific top managers of the company, and not Yandex, then it is important for the parties "on the shore" to resolve the issue of ownership of intellectual property rights.

So that in the future there are no complaints about the fact that someone has taken away a technology or product, like NGINX happened to Rambler, "Ghazaryan said.

The Beyond ML portfolio has 6 startups on the site, however RTVI found 10 companies that on their official websites said they owned/controlled or managed Beyond ML:
