Services of ShareFile are aimed at the enterprises and allow them to load data into the centralized storage located in a cloud and then to address them in the presence of the appropriate rights of access from any place and from any devices, including the PC, smartphones and tablets. Means of protecting, synchronization and sharing of the data which are stored at the enterprise and in a cloud are provided. One of important advantages of ShareFile service is the possibility of setup more than 100 characteristics that facilitates its use by the different enterprises from the different industries.

Citrix is going to use ShareFile technologies for implementation of the concept of a personal cloud which the company actively advances recently. The idea is in giving to the person the chance to work with any device in any place and at any time both in on-line, and in autonomous the modes. Now the market of such products only arises, but, according to the forecast of Citrix, will quickly grow and by 2015 will reach several billion dollars.

For the sake of expansion of a product portfolio for personal clouds of Citrix purchased Cloud.com company for more than 200 mln. dollars this summer, and recently tried to purchase Box.net company for 600 mln. dollars. But this transaction did not take place, and then Citrix purchased her competitor of ShareFile. However, 7 million people use services of Box.net, and ShareFile has 14 thousand clients.

Citrix promotes products for interaction between personal, private and public clouds. But in this set there were not enough clouds for data storage. Probably, now Citrix will be able to fill this space as together with technologies will receive also experienced development team. Based on the staff of ShareFile as a part of Citrix the new division of DataSharing under the leadership of Jesse Lipton, the head and the founder of the purchased company will be created.

ShareFile was created by it in 2005 for providing file sharing to users of the tool more convenient and fast, than the FTP protocol. All this time the company grew integrally, without financial support from venture funds.
