History

2023: Raising $50M

In early April 2023, it became known that the startup Mighty Buildings with Russian roots held another round of financing, during which $50 million was raised.

Co-founders of Mighty Buildings Vyacheslav Solonitsyn and Dmitry Starodubtsev spoke about receiving funds on the Y Combinator accelerator website. Details about this round and the names of investors were not disclosed. What it is planned to send the money received is also not specified. Mighty Buildings, which produces houses on an industrial 3D printer, is implementing a large-scale program to form microfabrication infrastructure in regions with housing shortages.

Mighty Buildings raises $50m

According to Crunchbase, since its founding in 2018, startup Mighty Buildings has attracted investments of more than $100 million (excluding the last round). The company did not officially announce the new financing in the amount of $50 million, but it is known that it was held in the second half of 2022.

At the same time, the co-founders of Mighty Buildings announced the launch of a new service based on artificial intelligence - the Intently platform. This system assists companies in finding leads. It is noted that when scaling the business, Mighty Buildings faced difficulties in terms of organizing the most efficient sales process. One of the difficulties was the need to analyze large amounts of heterogeneous data. The Intently service, which uses AI algorithms, is designed to solve the problem.

2021

Raising $22 million

In mid-July 2021, it became known about the attraction by Mighty Buildings of investments in the amount of $22 million. Investors taking part in the Series B funding round included ArcTern Ventures, Core Innovation Capital, Decacorn Capital, Gaingels, Khosla Ventures, Klaff Realty, MicroVentures, Modern Venture Partners, Polyvalent Capital and Vibrato Capital. Taking into account this transaction, the amount of funds raised by the manufacturer of houses on a 3D printer with Russian roots exceeded $100 million.

The estimated value of Mighty Buildings was not disclosed by July 14, 2021, as well as the share of investors in the startup. The company intends to use the attracted investments to improve supply chains, research and development, as well as to develop the construction of low-rise buildings. At the first stage, these will be two- and three-story houses for one family and townhouses.

Manufacturer of 3D-printed houses with Russian roots Mighty Buildings raised $22 million in investments

Mighty Buildings manufactures houses on an industrial 3D printer and sells them from $115 to $285 thousand, depending on the meter (starting from 32 square meters). The entire development department is located in Russia.

In the future, the company intends to create a network of microfabrications, allowing the construction of 200-300 houses annually in regions where there is not enough housing. She will also develop new composite materials from recycled and biological raw materials.

One of the goals of Mighty Buildings is to build emission-free houses by 2028, 22 CO2 years ahead of the entire construction industry in this regard, the publication reports. TechCrunch

Raising $40 million in investments from venture capital funds

The company for the production of houses on 3D-printer Mighty Buildings on February 9, 2021 announced the attraction of investments totaling $40 million. The round was led by Khosla Ventures and Zeno Ventures. In addition, both existing investors - Bold Capital Partners, Core Innovation Capital and Foundamental - and new ones - ArcTern Ventures, Abies Ventures, Modern Venture Partners, MicroVentures, One Way Ventures, Polyvalent Capital and other venture capital funds participated in it. The total volume of investments attracted by the company in February exceeds $70 million.

Mighty Buildings will direct the funds received to increase production capacity, expand the team and strengthen the B2B direction. Strategically, the company expects to come to a model in which builders and architects will develop their own design of houses, and developers will use the factory capacity of Mighty Buildings to scale production.

Given the rapid growth and new technology opportunities associated with a more responsible and environmentally friendly approach to construction, we are pleased to support Mighty Buildings in implementing their plans, "said Reno Blignaut, Operating Partner, Khosla Ventures Foundation. - The use of 3D printing, robotics and automation to create beautiful, affordable and durable houses seems to us a promising direction of development.

Mighty Buildings offers the following approach to the construction of residential buildings: using 3D printing and robotic systems, the company produces residential modules of different areas - from a studio to a four-room house. The technology used allows you to produce and install houses twice as quickly as in conventional construction, use 95% less labor, and also reduce waste by 10 times.

Since the release from stealth mode and the public launch of the company in the summer of 2020, demand for our residential modules has grown more than tenfold. In addition, contracts with advanced developers have appeared, - said Vyacheslav Solonitsyn, CEO and co-founder of Mighty Buildings. - Despite the public lonch in the midst of the pandemic, we are confident that we will be able to meet the increased demand and fulfill all orders for 2021 at our plant in California.

In addition to using 3D printing, Mighty Buildings automates up to 80% of home manufacturing operations at the plant through a design approach. This is largely possible due to the fact that in its 3D printers the company uses a special composite material of its own invention based on reactoplasts and mineral fillers - Light Stone Material (LSM). As a building material, it surpasses concrete in many respects, according to the company. For example, allows you to print not only walls, but also floors with floors.

Among the founders of Mighty Buildings are Vyacheslav Solonitsyn, founder of the venture capital fund Ruvento Ventures; Dmitry Starodubtsev, co-founder of the engineering company DI Group; Alexey Dubov, founder of Glance (smart watch with voice assistant) and Traditional (software for self-service systems), and Sam Ruben, American consultant in the field of eco-architecture.

2020: Raising $30 million in investments

On August 5, 2020, it became known that a startup with Russian roots Mighty Buildings, which specializes in the development of automated solutions for building modern buildings, attracted $30 million in investments. Investors include Khosla Ventures, Y Combinator, SV Angel, and others.

Thanks to 3D printing technology, Mighty Buildings can create residential modules of various areas - from a studio to a four-room house. The startup solution allows you to automate the construction process by 80%. With the help of a 3D printer, it is possible to develop residential modules of even sophisticated geometric shapes. By traditional construction methods, such structures are often difficult to implement. For example, it will take less than 30 hours to create a simple studio with an area of about 24 square meters.

3D home maker Mighty Buildings raises $30 million

The cost of houses created using 3D printing from Mighty Buildings varies from $115 thousand to $285 thousand. This is approximately 45% cheaper than houses that are erected using the traditional method. Moreover, when using 3D printing, the speed of building a house is halved than in traditional construction. Also, innovative technology allows you to use 95% less labor, and the volume of waste is reduced by 10 times.

For construction, a composite material developed by startup specialists is used, it is based on reactoplasts and mineral fillers. This approach allows Mighty Buildings to make not only walls, but also floors, floors.

Having vast experience in the fields of robotics, production, the Mighty Buildings team has a deep understanding of all aspects of housing construction, "says Eric Migikovsky, partner of the Y Combinator Foundation." Modern residential modules are only the first step towards implementing their unique approach in the field of construction.[3]
