Children's and school years

Levan Nazarov was born on October 8, 1985 in the capital of the Georgian SSR - Tbilisi, father and mother are engineers. As a result of the civil war that took place at home, the Nazarov family decided to move to Moscow, which it did in 1996.

One of the reasons for the family decision to change their place of residence to the capital of Russia was the desire to provide children with access to high-quality education. Levan Nazarov entered the Moscow technological school ORT. Here his abilities in mathematics and interest in IT technologies manifested themselves. At school, he also took up programming and cybernetics closely. In 2002, Levan Nazarov easily passed the entrance exams to the National Research Nuclear University (NRNU MEPhI) at the Faculty of Information Security in order to study financial technologies in conjunction with intelligent cyber systems. In 2008, Nazarov successfully graduated from the university and received a diploma of higher technical education.

Early career

As a student, while in his fourth year, Levan became a project manager in the project office of BMW AG. Two years later, in 2008, he headed the project office of the Russian representative office of Volkswagen Group Rus, where he worked until 2010. In the future, giving an interview, Nazarov noted that this experience in the two largest automotive concerns in the world was a kind of corporate university for him. Levan is closely engaged in project management and business processes, and its activities take place in the territory of not only the Russian Federation, but also Germany.

Studying at Skolkovo and launching the first development

In 2010, Levan Nazarov resigned from the concern and entered the Skolkovo business school to receive an MBA. He graduated in 2011. During his studies, he initiates an idea that at that time was progressive: to conduct an assessment of the creditworthiness of borrowers, studying their profile on social networks. In those years, this area only began to develop intensively, and Instagram was just emerging. Nazarov noted that when banks make a choice, issue a loan or refuse it, they are guided by the same information that the credit bureau provides. That is, the decisions of different banks are the same. Nazarov took the initiative to develop an algorithm that analyzes the applicant's social systems, and based on the results of such an analysis, assess the creditworthiness of the borrower. He told about this idea to another Skolkovo student - Georgy Belotserkovsky, who later became Levan's partner. Belotserkovsky shared these thoughts with familiar bankers and managed to arouse their interest. As a result, Levan and George began patenting development in the United States.

Both understood that before proposing their idea to large banks, it was necessary to test it in practice. This means, in reality, to carry out the issuance of loans, based on the results of the profile study in social networks, to form an array of data, to assess the effectiveness of decisions made by the system. Partners opened the world's first microfinance organization with their own funds, in which the registration process was carried out only through social networks. The project was named Mili.ru. This service carried out scoring (assessed credit risks) based on information posted on the social networks Odnoklassniki, Facebook and Vkontakte. Mili.ru successfully worked on the territory of all constituent entities of the Russian Federation from 2011 to 2018.

In 2012, Nazarov studied at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

When Nazarov and Belotserkovsky were convinced of the success of their experiment and the operability of the hypothesis, debugged the work of the algorithm, they decided to close the project. Later, answering questions from the journalist, Levan explained that after studying world experience and trends, he came to the conclusion that this product has no development prospects.
