Wi-Fi provided to Huawei in Russia the equipment independent of the USA

At the beginning of February, 2020 provided to Huawei in Russia the updated line of AirEngine devices for wireless communication of Wi-fi 6 (802.11ax). Its key difference from previous in Huawei call total absence in solutions of the American components. Now, according to statements of the company, in them the chipset which is made by Huawei and also components of other Asian producers is used.

Huawei is going to make access points, independent of the USA, available to customers worldwide, since March, 2020.

AirEngine equipment without the American components is marked with the red line on the body: "such line means that this device – America-free", Denis Serechenko, the director of digital transformation of Huawei Enterprise in the region Eurasia says.

Earlier in the equipment of Wi-fi of Huawei chipsets of the American companies Qualcomm, Broadcom were used. The decision on failure from them was made after in 2019 fell Huawei into disgrace in the USA and the American government limited it access to this market. Gradual replacement a component began in the middle of the 2019th.

Wi-fi standard 6 works in the ranges of 2.4 and 5 GHz and uses the technologies allowing to transfer data by one flow at once to several devices. At the expense of it network transmission capacity increases approximately four times in comparison with the standard of the previous generation - Wi-Fi 5, decreases a delay in network three times. Also Wi-Fi 6 differs in more low power consumption.

AirEngine Wi-Fi 6 is provided by six devices (some of them are available in several configurations) held for use in different spheres: for example, in retail, hotels, on sporting venues, etc. They are designed so that to correspond to the most characteristic models of use of networks in these segments. So, in retail simultaneous use of network by a large number of people, but volumes of the transmitted data at the same time small, unlike stadiums is characteristic during the sports competitions, explain in the company.

Wi-fi standard 6 in Russia can be used only in corporate environment as there is no certification for devices with its support for consumer segment yet, thus so far that some models smartphones Samsung, Apple and a number of notebooks already support Wi-Fi 6.

Abroad based on the first Wi-fi network 6 of a corporate class based on AirEnginee, then still using the American chips, it was created in 2018. In Russia, according to statements of Huawei, solutions of this line purchased two large Russian enterprises of an oil and gas sector and one bank earlier. Denis Serechenko told TAdviser that in study at the company as of the beginning of February "hundreds of projects".

In fight for the client Huawei installed flexible price policy on devices.

As in this market we behave actively and aggressively, the policy of the company following at the moment: we provide solutions Wi-fi 6 approximately at those prices at which other vendors provide solutions Wi-fi 5, - Denis Serechenko explained, answering a question of TAdviser. – Besides, the prices depend on under what project solutions and for what customer are bought.

At the same time, he noted in a conversation with TAdviser, an overwhelming part of the studied projects and sales in Russia is based on use of Wi-fi 6, products based on the standard of the previous generation already are almost not demanded.

In December, 2019 Huawei provided in Russia a high-performance system data storage (DWH) to OceanStor Dorado V6 in which also declared lack of the American component parts. In it own server processor ARM-Huawei Kunpeng 920 is used.

Also at the beginning of December foreign media with reference to the report of UBS and the Japanese technology laboratory Fomalhaut Techno Solutions reported that the new Huawei Mate 30 smartphone does not contain the American component parts. However then the analytical IHS Markit portal whose experts sorted and studied this device, claimed that detected in it the American trace: front-end the module of Qualcomm with[1].
