Troika cards and chips to them became 100% Russian

The production of Troika cards and chips for them has become 100% Russian. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote about this on December 23, 2023 in his Telegram channel.

Earlier, the cards used chips made in the Netherlands, but now one of the key elements began to be produced in Russia. Earlier in 2023, the first production line was launched at the Micron Security Printing plant in the Moscow Technopolice SEZ. During the production process, one of the key manufacturing processes of Troika takes place - the housing of microcircuits, as a result of which the chip contacts the antenna. The enclosure also protects the chip from mechanical damage, Sobyanin said.

Troika cards 100% became Russian

According to him, by the end of December 2023, the first thousand Troeks with domestic chips had already been manufactured and transferred for testing to the metro. Mass release of new cards will begin in 2024. Cards with new chips can work up to 10 years, and also have an increased degree of security, said Zhanna Ermolina, deputy head of the Moscow Metro State Unitary Enterprise. According to her, the new generation chip differs in that it has three times more memory, which allows us to integrate transport solutions, including in the regions of the Russian Federation.

From an ordinary chip to plastic and end personifications, everything is completely produced in Moscow, using our technologies, together with Micron. This, of course, speaks of the high technologies that we have today, and the security of personal data. It is very good that we are immediately moving on to a new generation chip, which will make it possible not only to provide the metropolitan metro with modern maps, but also to move to regions that have different tariff menu requirements and so on. Since today SberTroika has been introduced in many regions, this, of course, will be a solution for the whole country, - said the mayor of the capital.[1]

The first closed launch for January 2021 is already being held at twenty metro stations for tickets with a validity period of 30, 90 and 365 days. We want to make passenger travel more comfortable. The Met, on behalf of the Department of Transportation, announced a competition to develop the entire citywide ticket system. Unfortunately, the software architecture of our ticket solutions is outdated. To provide passengers with a modern fare service, we want to create a new unified ticket system. Its main advantages: personalization of Troika cards, individual offers under the loyalty program and support for corporate clients, - said Roman Latypov, First Deputy Head of the Metro for Strategic Development and Client Work.

After updating the ticket system, the Troika card will be able to become a universal payment tool. With its help, passengers will be able to pay for travel in any type of public urban transport, as well as pay for the services of other services.

It will take a year to develop the system, another one and a half will be needed to implement it. According to Vedomosti, it is planned to spend 765 million rubles on this. The corresponding tender was published on the public procurement portal[7]. In addition, the metropolitan metro conducts a tender for the supply of a software and hardware complex to ensure the functioning of the ticket system. The initial contract price is almost 748 million[8].
