MSU implemented the domestic solution VIDEOCONFERENCING of Vinteo

On July 11, 2018 the Vinteo company announced that the Center of development of electronic educational resources of Lomonosov Moscow State University purchased the program server of a video conferencing of the Russian company Vinteo on 10 licenses. The TeCONF company which delivered the hardware server and gave full advisory support acted as the system integrator. From the moment of signing of the contract before carrying out full-fledged video conference there passed one month, at the same time specialists of Vinteo put the solution into operation in only three days.

As it was reported, the customer was faced by a task to expand and upgrade the available VKS network based on the server LifeSize of ten-year prescription and also to organize remote acceptance of examinations at students. At the same time the server of video conferences had to provide full compatibility with the solutions of production LifeSize which are already set in MSU CiscoTandberg Polycom and implement a possibility of participation in conferences by means of modern browsers on different operating systems — Windows Linux Mac OS.

With assistance of the staff of TeCONF company comparative testing of modern domestic goods as a result of which the customer selected the solution Vinteo as a video conferencing core was held. In MSU the video core of Vinteo is set on the Dell T630 server with one processor and two professional video cards NVIDIA Quadro. The server has great opportunities for the subsequent scaling. In process of growth of needs of the customer it will be possible to add one more processor and two video cards and, thereby, at least to double the capacity of ports without replacement of the equipment.

Our company cooperates with MSU by video conferences about two years therefore we are well familiar with needs of this customer. In this case it was necessary to pick up the solution which will provide to university all modern opportunities of a video conferencing, will correspond at the same time to the budget of the customer and guarantees a possibility of the subsequent expansion and upgrade of VKS network without replacement of the hardware. According to representatives of Vinteo company, the system of a video conferencing will be regularly applied in MSU not only to the organization of educational process, but also to holding large actions, including the international level. Also the server of a video conferencing Vinteo will be involved within the University Saturdays project. In the long term the customer is going to increase the number of licenses of the Vinteo VKS server. Possibilities of the Vinteo platform also allow to integrate it with the environment of distance learning with an open program code of Moodle.
