Sergey Shishov: Modern human capital management - a key to success of any company

The EVOLA company has strong industry expertize in the field of the implementing solution SAP ERP HCM in the companies of a power complex, retail and the banking sector. The CEO of EVOLASergey Shishov told in an interview of TAdviser about the most successful projects of the company in 2009 and also about an output to the market of the new directions: business intelligence and business process management, and reform of Service center of operation of SAP HCM.

TAdviser: Despite a difficult situation in the Russian market of IT services in 2009, a number of large projects for Promsvyazbank, M.Video, Enel OGK-5 was succeeded to complete EVOLA companies, projects in TNK-BP and JSC Gazprom Neft proceed. Energy industry is your industry "fad"? Whether EVOLA has an examination in other vertical markets?

Sergey Shishov: We could not but complete these projects. One of our core values is accomplishment of obligations with proper quality and at the scheduled time. In general, I am proud of our command, we are capable to solve various problems flexibly, in the shortest possible time and with high quality, and it is confirmed by our clients with positive reviews.

As for dominance of projects in an oil and gas sector, it developed historically. TNK-BP and Gazprom Neft companies – were one of our first clients in 2008 when the company was formed. Successful project implementation, flexible approach to the solution of difficult and non-standard tasks of the Customer allowed us to prove and construct long-term partnership which continues still. We are selected for implementation of the subsequent projects which number constantly grows.

However, except the energy industry enterprises, we have a work experience in the banking sector (Promsvyazbank, SAP implementation of HCM in the Renaissance the Credit, TRUST, Home Credit & Finance Bank) and large retail networks (M.Video, X5 Retail Group, "A tape Network of retail" Eldorado).

TAdviser: From listed by you what projects the most interesting project was at EVOLA company this year? Whether it is possible to note among them something unusual, SAP HCM, different from usual implementation projects?

Sergey Shishov: It is impossible to tell that all projects pass equally. In everyone there are subtleties, everyone is interesting in own way. From projects of last year the implementation project of a corporate prototype on personnel management in JSC Enel (Enel OGK-5) company became really uncommon. How often happens in such cases, the western investors dictate the requirements to creation of IT infrastructure. The project in which we took part was started for the purpose of implementation of the international template of personnel management in the Russian division of Enel. The task of EVOLA consisted in correct combination of the western methodology with the Russian specifics.

The matter is that initially corporate prototype was developed by NorthgateArinso company, one of leaders in the field of consulting of SAP HR, for the Italian office of Enel company. Further localization projects were executed for Enel subsidiary companies in Slovakia and Romania. It caused the choice and joint work of two companies.

TAdviser: How as a result it was succeeded to coordinate work of an international project team? What results did you achieve in this project?

Sergey Shishov: The command of EVOLA company was responsible for implementation of local features in the existing corporate prototype and management of an international command which part the international company NorthgateArinso which was responsible for setup of a global part of a template in JSC Enel OGK-5 was. Process automation of personnel management was performed in parallel at head office JSC Enel OGK-5 and on four state district power plants.

The Russian specifics meant not only a compliance with law and personnel records, but also feature of tariff policy of Enel OGK-5 company. All tunings were performed taking into account an existing solution and settings for other countries (Italy, Slovakia, Romania). System implementation of SAP HCM allowed to unify personnel management processes in Enel OGK-5 companies and head company "Enel", having made them more transparent, it is essential to reduce terms of preparation of the reporting in that type which is necessary for timely assessment and decision making without additional modifications of reports.

From the development projects it is possible to note also successful completion of the first projects on the implementing solution SAP BI, in particular in retail network "M.Video". The main objective of the project was ensuring receiving analytics on such extensive areas as the number and the movement of personnel, staff costs and use of working time, the analyst on the salary and organizational development. This analytics is one of key factors of effective management of personnel in a wide branch network. She turns on the wide list of the reports helping HR specialists and the management to make timely the correct decisions.

TAdviser: Whether also BI – the directions will be crossed in practice personnel? What can such linking of solutions be interesting to your clients by?

Sergey Shishov: Yes, of course. The SAP solution BI helps to create HR to the analyst in different cuts, scales and methods of representation. We offer effective analytics for operational and strategic decisions, first of all in the field of human capital management. In fact, personnel management in broad understanding includes three areas: operational tasks, control of business processes and strategic management. Control of processes and strategic management mean versatile data analysis on employees, and here not to do without flexible tools on reporting which are provided by such solutions as SAP BI and SAP BusinessObjects.

Among others tasks, analytical tools of SAP for personnel management processes allow to plan, to model and compare staff expenses and other cost parameters on the periods and divisions, to define and calculate key performance indicators of HR service and personnel. Besides, with their help it is easy to execute daily monitoring of key indicators and to make the target multidimensional analysis of the consolidated statements on different categories and criteria which graphical representation of results did not leave indifferent any head yet.

TAdviser: What in general tasks come to the forefront now in automation of HR and what, on the contrary, are removed? How does it find reflection in the products offered EVOLA?

Sergey Shishov: In our opinion problems of planning of number and staff expenses, knowledge managements and skills of employees, performance management, management of business trips, personnel records and payroll are the most relevant for HR departments now. Certainly, we monitor needs of our clients and we aim to correspond to them. For this reason, in 2009 we created the solution EVOLA Take-to-Run, based on SAP ERP of HCM which allows to solve not only accounting and calculation problems, but also provides complex automation of all business personnel management processes in the company. This solution was designed taking into account requirements of HR of the specialists keeping personnel records and needs of the managers making management decisions - heads of divisions and the companies. As in our solution the most universal processes are already configured, it reduces terms and, respectively, implementation cost.

Also we propose to the clients the solution separate, the most relevant – "turnkey" "hot" tasks. That is actually – the experience acquired and checked by the real enterprises and time – as the ready-made solution of a specific objective. It is also positively perceived and estimated by our clients.

TAdviser: Recently EVOLA brought to the market as well new activity: business process management. Tell, please, why such decision was made? What products do you offer within this direction?

Sergey Shishov: The main specialization of the new direction – business process management using the SAP solution NetWeaver (Business Process Management). The idea of creation and development of this direction evolved from our consulting experience and according to our main strategy of permanent development and mastering of innovations. When we studied the SAP product NetWeaver BPM which allows to build processes, flexibility and efficiency of actions in which it is incomparable with one information solution existing now, there is no doubt left.

Our expectations interest and a positive response of clients from process demonstration confirmed "Employment" - the first process constructed by us using SAP BPM. This direction supplements the services offered now by EVOLA company in the field of personnel management. Except automation of HR processes of the company have an opportunity of process optimization, connected with other activities, such as: approval of actions and documents, production processes in banking sector and telecommunications, and so on.

The SAP solution NetWeaver BPM allows to build the flexible managed processes, with a possibility of control of accomplishment of tasks by all participants at all stages, considerably improving quality of processes and creating, thus, competitive advantage of the company. At the moment EVOLA company – one of the few partners of SAP company having BPM examination in Russia. Close interaction with SAP company – the solution designer of SAP NetWeaver BPM, allows us to be aware of the last technology developments and to offer them to our clients.

TAdviser: As far as we know, in February in EVOLA company the new head of Service center of operation of the SAP solutions ERP HCM was appointed. For what personnel reform was necessary?

Sergey Shishov: The service of support of operation of the HCM SAP ERP system is provided to our clients automatically within implementation projects for a certain term. However, service of operation of a system became demanded also the companies in which implementation was performed not by us, especially during crisis when many companies cut down the staff of a support service, and economically more profitable began to bring her to outsourcing.

Respectively, we had a requirement of more accurate and regulated management of services of Service center. It dictated need of selection for an organization structure of EVOLA company of the person responsible for his work and development, including quality control of rendering services, improvement of processing and accomplishment of requests for the purpose of acceleration and also the offer of new services to the existing and new clients. All these tasks were also assigned to Egor Bukin.

TAdviser: As a rule, staff movements involve also high-quality changes in work. What changed at the moment?

Sergey Shishov: From innovations of the Center I would like to note service Audit which was born in response to a customer need in assessment of operation of the operating SAP HCM system – Post Productive Audit. Within service we provide to clients independent assessment of the personnel management system operating at the enterprise, qualities of its maintenance and the recommendation about its further development and improvement of "interaction" of a system and users.

Works within new service include technical audit of a system, the analysis of procedures of changes, the analysis of qualification of users and level of their satisfaction, the analysis of activity of a support service. Results are made out in a report type about a current status of a system which contains registers of the shortcomings revealed during the analysis, describes the business processes implemented in a system, algorithms and the reporting and also recommendations about elimination of the revealed shortcomings and outputs on upgrade and improvement of the existing system.

In the spring within the Special program of EVOLA company "Card of the client", audit was booked for M.Video and Eldorado companies. For them technical audit was executed and risks assessment in case of expansion of functionality of the SAP solution HCM is made.

TAdviser: As the summary: share, please, the vision of how the market of HCM and HRM solutions in Russia will develop? What place do you on it see for yourself? What plans for perspective at you?

Sergey Shishov: I think that HRM or HCM as function will be built in more and more general management by business. The more perfect, is more modern and human capital management in the company is more high-quality, the company is more successful, - more and more heads recognize it as the fact. Our task – to integrate, build in personnel management processes the uniform mechanism of company management, having provided transparency and communication of indicators, results with that activity and those solutions which are performed and accepted in the company.

The TAdviser center conducted an annual research of the market of personnel management systems in Russia. Unique statistical data about implementation of HRM systems are provided in this overview in free access, the functionality of modern solutions is described, recommendations about the choice of systems are provided.
