2025: Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada elected head of the board of directors of Rosneft
Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada re-headed the board of directors of the oil company Rosneft. The decision was made at the annual meeting of shareholders in July 2025. The Qatari specialist has held this position since June 2023.
According to Interfax, Al-Sada has more than 40 years of experience in the energy industry. In 2007-2011, he served as Minister of State for power and Industry of Qatar, and in 2011-2018 he headed the Ministry of Energy and Industry of this country and at the same time headed the board of Qatar Petroleum.
The new board of directors of Rosneft included 11 people:
- Muhammad Bin Saleh Al-Sada is the chairman of the board of directors.
- Andrei Akimov - Chairman of the Board of Gazprombank.
- Pedro A. Aquino Jr. - President and CEO of Oil & Petroleum International Resources Ltd., Independent Director (Philippines).
- Faizal Alsuwaidi is a spokesman for Qatar Investment Authority (Qatar).
- Hamad Rashid Al-Mohannadi is a spokesman for Qatar Investment Authority (Qatar).
- Viktor Martynov - Rector of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Independent Director.
- Alexander Nekiplov is an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, an independent director.
- Alexander Novak - Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.
- Maxim Oreshkin - Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia.
- Govind Cottis Satish is Managing Director of Value Prolific Consulting Services Pvt. Ltd., Independent Director (India).
- Igor Sechin is the chief executive officer of Rosneft.
Al-Sada combines the leadership of the board of directors of a Russian company with other positions. He heads the Board of Trustees of the University of Science and Technology in Doha, is on the Board of Trustees of the Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyi International Qatar Foundation for power and Sustainable Development. The Qatari top manager is also a member of the Advisory Committee of the governing body of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nesma Infrastructure & Technology.[1]
2024: A new board of directors of Rosneft has been approved. List
On July 8, 2024, it became known that the ex-Minister of power of Qatar was re-elected chairman of the board of directors of Rosneft. The updated composition of the council also included:

- Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak;
- Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Maxim Oreshkin.
Mohammed bin Saleh al-Sada headed the board of directors of Rosneft in 2023. He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Doha University of Science and Technology and former Minister of Energy and Industry of Qatar.

Members of the Board of Directors of Rosneft are elected by the General Meeting of Shareholders for a term up to the next annual General Meeting of Shareholders. The Board of Directors is elected with 11 members. As noted on the Rosneft website, the board of directors has an optimal ratio of executive, non-executive and independent members.[2]
2022: The new board of directors of Rosneft has been approved. It was led by former top manager Qatar Energy
At the end of June 2022, a meeting of Rosneft shareholders was held, at which the new composition of the company's board of directors was approved. Belmahdi Tayeb, a former top executive at Qatar Energy, has been elected as the new chairman. Gerhard Schroeder left the position in May 2022.

Earlier in 2022, BP Chief Executive Officer Bernard Looney, ex-head of the company Robert Dudley and former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneisl also left the board of directors of Rosneft.

2021: Election of a new board of directors

- Gerhard Schroeder - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nord Stream 2 AG (Switzerland), Chairman of the Shareholders Committee of Nord Stream AG (Switzerland), Independent Director.
Karin Kneisl turned out to be the only new member on the board of directors of Rosneft - the rest were re-elected for a new term. Oleg Vyugin, professor of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the Higher School of Economics, did not get into the new composition from the past.
The fact that the former Austrian Foreign Minister was nominated as a candidate for the board of directors of Rosneft from the state became known in early March 2021 from the relevant order of the Government of the Russian Federation. In addition to Kneisl, the government also announced ex-Gerhard Schroeder, Matthias Warnig and Hans-Jörg Rudloff for these positions.[4]

In May 2020, Rosneft proposed to maintain the remuneration of board members in 2020 at the level of 2019.
Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder is offered to pay $600 thousand, Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi - $530 thousand, Faizal Alsuvaidi - $530 thousand, Matthias Warnig - $580 thousand, Oleg Vyugin - $560 thousand, Hans-Jorg Rudloff - $580 thousand.
Members of the board of directors who are civil servants (Andrei Belousov, Alexander Novak), and the board of directors of the company Igor Sechin, the amount of remuneration for fulfilling the duties of members of the board of directors in 2019 is not indicated.
2019
At the end of 2019, members of the board of Rosneft received 3.545 billion rubles as remuneration. Of this amount, 1.5 billion rubles were premiums.
