The Ministry of Education and Science of the Southern Urals and Rostelecom will provide IT infrastructure to schools in the region. Rostelecom announced this on September 27, 2021.
In 2021-2022, all educational institutions of the Southern Urals will be provided with telecommunications infrastructure, which will be built by Rostelecom. Wi-Fi access points and video surveillance will appear in 800 schools in the region. The work is carried out as part of a state contract between the company and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Chelyabinsk Region. South Ural was among the 16 regions where a project to create a single digital educational environment is being implemented within the framework of the national program "Digital Economy of Russia."
Speaking about school, it is difficult to overestimate the role of digitalization. As part of the national projects "Education" and "Digital Economy," computer equipment is purchased from schools, high-speed Internet is carried out, all digital communication channels are protected and access to information resources is provided, teachers are retrained. All this becomes in order that each child could gain qualitative knowledge in the conditions meeting the last requirements, - the Minister of Education and naukichelyabinsky area Alexander Kuznetsov told. |
Telecommunications infrastructure will appear in the educational institutions of 43 municipalities of the Southern Urals: from the Bredinsky district in the south of the region to the Snezhinsky urban district in the north.
As of September 2021, Rostelecom specialists are conducting a survey of all facilities in the Chelyabinsk region for the construction of the necessary IT infrastructure. In total, 4,000 internal and external video surveillance cameras will be installed in South Ural schools, as well as more than 14,000 Wi-Fi access points, "said Mikhail Sergeev, director of the Chelyabinsk branch of Rostelecom PJSC. |
Except Chelyabinsk region, the list of regions where the project will be implemented, also included the Astrakhan, Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Kemerovo, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Sakhalin, Tula, Tyumen regions, the Altai and Perm regions and also the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area. In accordance with Order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 713-r dated March 22, 2021, Rostelecom was appointed the sole executor of work on the formation of sustainable ICT infrastructure in general education organizations. The state contract will be valid until December 31, 2022.
