Analysis of 30% of radiation studies of patients with YNAO

Moscow neuronets analyzed 30% of radiation studies of patients. YANAO

Neural networks - participants in the Moscow experiment - processed more than 60 thousand radiation studies of patients in polyclinics and hospitals in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. If in the first year of cooperation 5 medical institutions of the district were connected to the platform, then as of December 2023 there are already 14 of them. In 2024, Moscow and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug will continue to cooperate to study the capabilities of computer vision technologies for analyzing medical images. Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development, spoke about this on December 26, 2023.

The Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug has been cooperating with our Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine since 2022. Over the year, the number of medical institutions in Yamal using Moscow neural networks and doctors of 3 medical organizations in the region use smart algorithms to describe medical images has grown almost 14 times. These are all institutions in which radiation studies are carried out. During this time, more than 60 thousand were processed - 30% of all in the region - studies of fluorography, mammography, X-ray and computed tomography of the chest organs. We will continue cooperation in 2024, within the framework of which Moscow will process research from polyclinics and hospitals of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in current areas. The capital offers the highest quality complex solutions for this - these are services that are configured to search for several pathologies at once in one anatomical zone. This cooperation expands the possibilities of radiation diagnostics of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, - said Anastasia Rakova.

The doctors of Yamal got the opportunity to use Moscow neural networks at the end of 2022 thanks to the HUB Telemed platform developed by the Moscow Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine of DZM. Studies from regional clinics are anonymized through the platform to neural networks, and, after processing by artificial intelligence, are returned to the doctor as additional information for the final description. This helps automate routine processes and save time. Moscow specialists accompany the process and control the quality of neural networks.

Artificial intelligence actively and quite professionally describes mammographic, fluorographic and X-ray studies. Green marks everything that corresponds to the norm, red marks the potential danger. Working with AI is a kind of exchange of professional experience: doctors share knowledge with an electronic assistant, it in turn excludes the human factor: fatigue, inattention or error. Radiologists describe up to 100 mammographic studies per day, about 130 - X-rays and up to 400 fluorographies. The opportunity to share the amount of work with an assistant who can work without a break for sleep is unconditional luck, - said Yanina Kovaleva, head of the X-ray department of the Novourengoy Central City Hospital.

The Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine DZM is the flagship for the introduction of artificial intelligence into radiation diagnostics. The scientific and practical center has special experience in working with neural networks, since the largest experiment on the introduction of computer vision technologies in healthcare is taking place on its basis, more than 11 million studies have been processed here in 4 years. Artificial intelligence services have been integrated into a single radiological information service of the unified medical information and analytical system (EMIAS) of the capital. Thus, radiologists of all medical institutions in Moscow connected to EMIAS were able to use innovative technologies.

We offer YNAO doctors comprehensive AI-based services, these are proven solutions, with a high performance under the conditions of the Moscow experiment. Such services allow you to identify not only deviations that are the purpose of the survey, but also a number of others. For example, the patient was sent to a study to exclude pneumonia, and the service, having analyzed the picture, found additional signs of an aortic aneurysm. One such service is able to detect signs of ten pathologies on a computed tomogram of the chest organs, - said Yuri Vasiliev, chief freelance specialist in radiation and instrumental diagnostics of the Moscow Department of Health, director of the Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine.
