Updating the analytical equipment fleet of the research center for special ceramics

The Moscow manufacturer of ceramic refractory materials, with the support of the city, has updated the fleet of analytical equipment of its own research center for special ceramics (NIC SK). This was announced on March 27, 2023 by the head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, which is part of the Complex of Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations of the capital, Vladislav Ovchinsky.

In particular, the company acquired a desktop scanning microscope with chemical analysis and the possibility of enlarging 350 thousand times, a device for determining magnetic inclusions, a porometer, a derivatograph, a dilatometer and other research equipment. The fleet of semi-industrial equipment for seamless technology for the development of ceramic products, including by 3D printing, was also expanded.

NIC SC NTC "Bakor" develops new compositions of especially resistant refractories and filtering ceramics for its own production, and also conducts laboratory tests, including official contract tests for third-party customers.

The company pays special attention to investment activities that allow expanding the capacity of the site and modernizing production. One of the last such projects was the renewal of the equipment park of the research center. In the implementation of the plans, a loan from the city provided special support. For example, the latest development of NIC SK is a fibrous ceramic filter element for complex purification of high-temperature flue gases from various industries. It is able to achieve the requirements of sanitary standards for emissions from industrial enterprises. Technical characteristics of filter element exceed those of imported analogues, and service life is from 2 to 5 years depending on operating conditions. The filtering element is made of domestic raw materials and materials. The development was tested at a number of industries in the Russian Federation and showed good results, - said Mikhail Korolev, Deputy General Director for Innovative and Technical Development of NTC Bakor LLC.

Obtaining a patent for the technology of 3D printing of large-format granular refractory materials

In Moscow, as of February 2023, there are a large number of enterprises that use their own developments in production. This helps factories not only increase the production of high-tech products, but also adapt products to different customer needs. The Moscow Scientific and Technical Center "Bakor" in 2023 received another patent for its own technology of 3D printing of large-format granular refractory materials. The development will make it possible to produce any formats and dimensions of products, as well as reduce unit costs and production time, - said Vladislav Ovchinsky.

This technology can be used in the production of products for such industries as non-ferrous and ferrous metallurgy, mechanical engineering, engine building, nuclear and chemical industries and others.

The developed method of producing refractory materials using 3D printing involves the creation of a printing composition consisting of porous granules and a special suspension. When forming the article, moisture under the action of the capillary effect goes into porous granules, and the mass loses mobility. This ensures tight adhesion of printed layers, uniformity of structure and strength of the semi-finished product, - said Boris Krasny, General Director of the Bakor Scientific and Technical Center.

He added that previously 3D printing of ceramic materials was limited by the set of materials possible for use and the dimensions of the printed product.

In 2020, the city awarded the manufacturer the status of an industrial complex, allowing it to receive significant tax breaks and direct the saved funds to modernize its site.

Since 2019, NTC Bakor has also received support for the development of export supplies of its products from the Mosprom Center. Thus, the company presented its equipment at the two largest industry exhibitions in Chile and took part in three international business missions in Latin America and Africa.
