Life after the "shock effect." Russian IT vendors note revenue growth, but more restrained than in 2022

Against the background of the "shock effect" in the economy and explosive demand for Russian IT products, many IT companies ended 2022 with a jump in revenue growth, some of them had a turnover increased several times. When preparing an article on the results and trends of the outgoing 2023, TAdviser talked with representatives of more than 20 major IT market players. Despite the fact that the final financial results of activities for the year have not yet been summed up, many of them, most often vendors, record business growth, however, most often, more restrained than a year earlier, or the same.

So, for example, in the developer of the OS "BASEALT," according to the database of legal entities Kontur.Focus, "in 2022, which increased revenue by 172%, in 2023 led TAdviser growth rate by 30%. It was provided not only by the need for operating systems. Against the background of large-scale migration projects of large IT infrastructures from import solutions to Russian ones, software tools for smooth migration from import solutions to Russian ones are in great demand - for example, such as Alt Domain, says Sergei Trandin, general director of BASEALT.

In addition, the need for software and hardware complexes has noticeably increased, which allow you to quickly implement complex business scenarios completely on Russian solutions. The "boxed" solutions are replaced by complex integration solutions of the industrial class.

In 2023, several powerful universal PACs were presented on the market, which are suitable for both the public sector and business in various industries. As an example, Sergey Trandin cited PAC "Hybrid automated workstation AWS 3.0," designed for safe work with data and communications in a virtual working environment. In addition to BASEALT, 10 more companies participated in its creation - developers of hardware and software solutions.

The developer of the Postgres Professional DBMS also slowed down. The company says that in fiscal year 2023 (starting February 1), the revenue figure is projected to approximately 5.5 billion rubles with an increase of 48%. According to the company's calculation methods, in fiscal 2022 it had a turnover of about 3.7 billion with an increase of about 2.5 times. And for the calendar 2022, according to RAS reports provided to the Federal Tax Service, Postgres Professional's revenue increased even more - 3.3 times.

The growth rate is slightly less than last year, but still quite significant. According to a study by the Center for Strategic Research, we were in first place in the DBMS market. This is an independent third-party confirmation, we did not order this study for them, "said Ivan Panchenko, deputy general director of Postgres Professional.

The Postgres Professional team increased by 50%, to more than 250 people. The company claims that they are not as bad as others, the situation with personnel hunger: "Due to the fact that we have interesting tasks, they go to us willingly."

According to the results of 2023, at least 30% of growth is also reported in Norbitol"" (part of the group "Lanit"). The company claims that many of the directions are significantly ahead of the market. In 2023, Norbit paid a lot of attention to the development of its own products: "They seriously updated the NBT platform, released their own solutions Norbit, BI Norbit SRM, Norbit CDS. We hope that in the coming years they will help us grow even more, "says the general director of Norbit. Anton Chekhonin

The company notes that in 2023, first of all, the number of pilots and migrations to domestic software increased, which influenced the need for business in high-quality management and IT consulting. Plus, Russian solutions for the most part are in the stage of development of functionality, ripening, so there is an increasing demand for additional development and configuration of integrations, as well as qualified specialists.

Lev Matveev, chairman of the board of directors of SearchInform, says that it is too early to sum up the results, but the company expects revenue growth of 10-15% compared to 2022.

File:Aquote1.png
As much as in 2022 we will not be able to grow for several reasons. In 2022, customers urgently switched from foreign software to domestic counterparts. Domestic solutions of the DLP class have occupied most of the Russian market before, but we offered our SIEM and DCAP to customers as worthy alternatives, not inferior to foreign software, - explains Lev Matveev. - In 2023 there was a different situation. Customers are experiencing a crisis, it is more difficult for them to allocate an additional budget for information security.

The result of the "SearchInform" is also influenced by the salaries of IT personnel, which increased almost 2 times during the year. At the same time, the company did not raise prices in 2023, keeps them, realizing that it is also not easy for customers. "Let's hope that the salary race will not continue indefinitely," says Lev Matveev.

Oleg Lyubimov, general director of the IT infrastructure services provider Selectel, told TAdviser that in 2022 the company had a high base effect, and according to the results of all 2023, a slowdown is expected - revenue growth at plus/minus 25%. At the end of 2022, the growth was by 68%, to 8.1 billion rubles.

File:Aquote1.png
We see that the market as a whole is now growing more slowly. Last year, there was a one-time surge associated, firstly, with the relocation of customers from Western service providers to Russian ones, because it became difficult to pay for Western ones, and there were risks of blocking. And many of these risks are beginning to be realized this year, - said Oleg Lyubimov.

And the general director of the service provider DPC IXcellerate Andrey Aksenov told TAdviser that formally the company will sum up the results of the outgoing year in the first quarter of 2024, but, according to current forecasts, it expects an increase of 45% -50% year-on-year, which is similar to growth in 2022.

File:Aquote1.png
At the same time, most of the growth is due to the commissioning of new capacities, the launch of new turbine halls, and not due to an increase in prices. On the issue of prices, we try to be as correct as possible, partially bearing the burden of raising the cost of construction on ourselves, "says Andrei Aksenov.

The revenue of the company-developer of the personnel service electronic document management () E-DOCUMENT FLOW HRlink in 2023 amounted to 850 million rubles - twice as much as a year earlier. The number of users of the platform has tripled, reaching 1.2 million, and the company's staff has grown to 270 people. The customer base was replenished with major players in industry markets, as well as federal organizations and associations.

In some IT companies, the specific dynamics of turnover at the end of 2023 has not yet been announced, but they talk about growth in general.

File:Aquote1.png
This year, the dynamics was positive for all Russian vendors. Everything has grown to one degree or another, since the budgets allocated for innovation remain with domestic software developers, "said Sergey Artemov, director of corporate communications and mobility platform development at eXpress. - And for our company it was also a year of breakthrough technological solutions: they created and implemented the crypto container application and SmartApp Bridge and SmartApp Proxy technologies in the superappa for Norilsk Nickel, which make it possible to turn virtually any web resource into smartapps in a short time.

Kaspersky Lab notes that they see a significant increase in sales in Russia, a good increase in sales in a number of export markets - from Latin America to the Middle East - and a slight decrease in sales in Western markets, which in fact turns out to be not as dramatic as predicted.

Kaspersky Lab implements a regional expansion program, qualitatively studies, analyzes and evaluates markets of interest to the company at the level of specific countries. The result of this work - the company sees that the available markets are larger in volume than previously thought, new prospects are opening up, says Andrei Efremov, director of business development at Kaspersky Lab.

File:Aquote1.png
We enter new product markets for us, launched the Kaspersky SD-WAN solution for building software-defined distributed networks, it will form the basis for our future implementation of the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) concept, in which the construction of distributed networks and security functions become an integrated solution, "says Andrey Efremov.

He also noted, among other things, that Kaspersky Lab has released its solution for protecting container environments.

By the end of 2023, the T1 holding also plans to show growth. Dmitry Kharitonov, First Deputy General Director of the T1 Holding, General Director of the Innotech Group, noted that this year the holding brought its own software vendor, NOTA, to the market, entered the niches of aircraft technology and corporate education (T1 Digital Academy), and also expanded areas in the field of industry automation and information security.

"MyOffice" According to TAdviser, at the end of 2023, the number of pilot projects at the company increased 1.5 times compared to a year earlier. And in order to quickly respond to the growing market demand, MyOffice has strengthened its technical team and sales department. As a result, a significant part of those who tested products made decisions to buy them: the number of corporate clients of MyOffice increased by 50% compared to last year.

In general, the volume of the editors' market exceeded 30 billion rubles, the mail solutions market - 38 billion rubles, and the volume of the communications market (corp. messengers and VKS) amounted to 56 billion rubles, estimates were given to MyOffice.

In the segment of office software, MyOffice and other Russian developers of such products account for about 16% of the market, although a year ago this parameter did not exceed 5%, says Pavel Kalyakin, CEO of MyOffice. This suggests that Russian companies are moving from formal to real import substitution of software. MyOffice estimates its market share at about 10% and intends to continue to grow in the market due to the strengthening of the functionality of its products and the introduction of new features.

To maintain the pace, volume and quality of the development of our ecosystem, we are consistently expanding the development team: in 2023 we attracted more than 350 developers. In total, the volume of hiring this year increased by 35% compared to 2022, - Pavel Kalyakin told TAdviser.

"1C" And the report that for 11 months of 2023, sales "1C: Enterprises" "by 11 months of 2022 increased by more than 44%. Among other things, sales of new jobs increased at a faster pace, by 68%. Among the main reasons for this growth in the company are the revival of the economy, the focus on development and small and large organizations. In addition, the deferred demand of 2022 worked and real, not in words, import substitution began.

The direction of infrastructure solutions of Jet Infosystems, according to preliminary forecasts, in 2023 overtook the indicators of both 2022 and 2021. This was announced by Yuri Semenyukov, director of the center for infrastructure solutions "Jet Infosystems."

File:Aquote1.png
This dynamics is due to the fact that the market has stabilized, companies have a common understanding of affordable products, solutions and vendors in the market. We see that now the market is ready to invest in projects to modernize the IT infrastructure - companies have moved from the observation stage to action, - explains Yuri Semenyukov. - In 2023, more and more projects for the transition to Russian hardware and software appear, and the projects themselves become technically more complex. Therefore, as an integrator with wide competencies and a large accumulated expertise in various areas and products, we have positive dynamics.

And the service center "Jet Infosystems" closes 2023 with a confident plus, says Anton Pavlenko, director of the directorate of computing complexes, service and outsourcing "Jet Infosystems." According to him, it is still difficult to estimate specific figures, but the company is optimistic about the results of 2023 and next 2024.

MTS Digital reported that in 2023 the company continued to transform its business in the direction of developing an ecosystem of digital services. The result - the number of ecosystem clients at the end of the third quarter of 2023 reached a record 14.2 million, an increase of 11.4% year-on-year.

And MTS Link notes in 2023 a significant increase not only in revenue, but also in the demand for its services. For example, in the first three quarters of 2023, the company saw that the number of events on their platform increased by 75% - from 2 to 3.51 million year-on-year. The number of paid customers for the 3rd quarter (Q1-Q3) increased by 44.7% year-on-year.

Axoft also points to growth in 2023m, which is due to a strategic bet on domestic manufacturers, the development of technological expertise and the rejection of gray imports.

The company has transformed into a technological hub for Russian vendors and partners in building digital sovereignty, "explains Sergey Tabulin, Product and Technology Director, Axoft.

A number of companies note that their revenue at the end of 2023 remained at about the same level as a year earlier. For example, at Consyst Business Group (part of the Lanit Group of Companies). At the same time, there was a significant redistribution of its shares from projects related to imported technologies to projects related to Russian technologies: most of the demand in 2023 is due to Russian products, a smaller part - imported, said Pavel Goryansky, general director of Consyst Business Group.

File:Aquote1.png
The development of our own product line is fundamentally important for us. "Turbo" The end year showed the growing demand for this technology, and we received significant and promising results of its industrial operation from new customers of corporate scale, "said Pavel Goryansky.
File:Aquote2.png

The revenue of the network direction "Jet Infosystems" also remained at the same level as in 2022. However, in comparison with 2022, the structure of the business itself has changed - the bulk of revenue this year falls on work.

File:Aquote1.png
We also significantly increased the number of multimedia projects and the share of sales of domestic equipment, - says Sergey Andronov, director of the network solutions center "Jet Infosystems."

The final results of the year of IT companies will be announced in early 2024. But it is already clear that for many it is likely to be very positive in terms of financial results.

Earlier, TAdviser also interviewed players about the main results and trends of 2023 in the IT market and their expectations for 2024.
