2024: Mobile coverage of 92% and transition to Russian OS. The head of North Ossetia spoke about the digitalization of the region

The head of North Ossetia, Sergei Menyailo, spoke about the transition of the region to Russian operating systems and software products as part of the digital transformation of the republic. This information was announced during a working meeting with the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Maksut Shadaev, held on August 1, 2024 in Moscow.

According to Menyailo, measures are being actively implemented in North Ossetia to develop a communication system and ensure high-speed access to the Internet.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to Ministry of Digital Development Russia the Universal Communication Service project. As part of this initiative, from 2021, the villages of Nizhny Lars, Koban, Dzinaga and the village of Telman are connected to the Internet and mobile communications network in the republic. By the end of 2024, it is planned to commission base stations in the villages of Staraya Saniba and Makhchesk.

Menyailo stressed that over the past three years, telecom operators have carried out large-scale work on the construction of 77 base stations and the modernization of 400 existing ones. However, there are still settlements on the territory of the subject that need high-quality communication. The head of the republic expressed hope for the assistance of federal colleagues in resolving this issue.

As part of the digital transformation of the region, special attention is paid to the transition to domestic operating systems and software products. Work is also underway to create and implement information systems in key sectors of the economy, social sphere and public administration.

With the support of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, all mass social services in North Ossetia have already been transferred to electronic form, which greatly simplifies the process of obtaining them for residents of the republic.[1]

2025: Mamison all-season resort built in North Ossetia for ₽19 billion

The volume of investments in the construction of the all-season tourist and recreational complex "Mamison" in North Ossetia reached ₽19 billion, of which more than ₽10 billion were attracted from private sources. 2024: Tourist flow growth by 10.9% to 1.6 million people

According to the results of 2024, the tourist flow in North Ossetia increased by 10.9%, exceeding 1.6 million people. Of these, 715.2 thousand were tourists, and 899.6 thousand were sightseers. Such data in February 2025 was published by the republic's tourism committee with reference to the SmartCity/SmartCity software. The authorities attribute the growth to the development of tourist infrastructure and the popularity of the natural and cultural routes of the region.

According to the data, Rosstat 178.9 thousand people were registered in the collective means of accommodation of the republic in 2024, and sanatorium-resort organizations accepted 10.2 thousand vacationers.

During the New Year holidays from December 15, 2023 to January 20, 2024, 124.2 thousand people visited North Ossetia, including 58.3 thousand tourists and 65.9 thousand sightseers. This is 8.6% more than in the same period in 2023.

In October 2024, within the framework of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality," agreements were signed on the creation of three tourist and information centers. New infrastructure facilities are designed to improve the quality of service for guests of the region.

The first half of 2024 demonstrated a twofold increase in tourist flow compared to the same period in 2023 - the region received about 900 thousand guests. This indicates the growing popularity of North Ossetia as a tourist destination.

The development of tourism infrastructure is one of the priority areas of economic development of the republic. The creation of new information centers will improve the quality of service for tourists and provide them with more complete information about the sights of the region.[2]
