Bitfusion — the American developer of the "elastic" and virtual operating system for hardware accelerators. The company offers a software platform which virtualizes hardware accelerators of graphic processors, programmable gate arrays (FPGA) and special purpose integrated circuits (ASIC).
In other words, the Bitfusion platform can separate computing resources from services to which they are connected and to share them in network, including a local and cloud environment. It, in turn, allows to support the workloads using artificial intelligence and machine learning by distribution of opportunities of GPU within the virtualized infrastructure instead of isolation of resources on the server.

2019: VMware purchased Bitfusion
On July 18, 2019 VMware announced Bitfusion acquisition, however did not begin to call either financial, nor other terms of transaction. Thanks to this purchase VMware will help clients to provide machine learning and to start AI systems by virtualization of hardware accelerators.
Though Bitfusion technologies are concentrated around the graphic processors constructed using means of virtualization in VMware say that the platform can be expansions for support of FPGA and ASIC chips.
In many respects Bitfusion offers for hardware acceleration what VMware offered for computing environment a few years ago — the senior vice president and the head of department of cloud platforms of VMware Krish Prasad says. — Bitfusion will also well be approved with the concept of VMware VMware Any Cloud, Any App, Any Device thanks to the capability to work with AI platforms, clouds, networks and formats, such as virtual machines and containers. |
The Bitfusion platform will be integrated with the solution VMware vSphere.[1]
