History

2019: VMware bought Intrinsic

On August 20, 2019, VMware announced the acquisition of Intrinsic, but did not name the value of the transaction. The startup employs 10 people at the time of its sale.

VMware will leverage Intrinsic technologies to extend the VMware AppDefense platform into a public cloud infrastructure. Software Intrinsic works with server-free technologies from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft and Google.

VMware buys server-free software developer

Intrinsic's purchase is consistent with the strategy that VMware introduced in May 2019. Its essence is to turn the advantages of attackers into pros for defending with a new approach to security. To do this, VMware focuses on applications, not infrastructure, and reduces the surface of the attack, rather than looking for cyber threats. By expanding the portfolio of software solutions that include cloud services, VMware embeds cyber protection mechanisms into the IT infrastructure so that customers can block abnormal application activity and significantly reduce risk to critical applications, sensitive data, and users.

In August 2019, it became known that VMware was negotiating a takeover of the manufacturer POPivotal Software. Both companies are part of the Dell group.[1]
