2025: Expulsion of the second secretary of the embassy and husband of the first secretary of the political department

In March 2025, the second secretary of the British Embassy in Moscow, Alkesh Odedra, and Michael Skinner, the husband of the first secretary of the political department, Tabasum Rashid, were deprived of accreditation.

By decision of the FSB of Russia, diplomats are deprived of accreditation for indicating false information about themselves and conducting intelligence and subversive work. Now they are obliged to leave Russia within two weeks.

Alkesh Odedra has Indo-Pakistani roots and Tabasum Rashid is Omani. In addition to the British Foreign Ministry, the latter worked, including in the British Ministry of Defense, as well as in Transparency International.

Days earlier, Deputy Commander Thomas Dodd left Russia - he did not wait for the results of the criminal case for the attack on a Russian journalist at the Moscow airport in 2024.

The 1st Secretary of the Embassy at this time, Darren Forbes-Batey, is a specialist in Muslim Africa. Including was Deputy Ambassador of Britain to Mali, and was previously in the Department of Somalia at the Embassy in Kenya.

The Tasmanian Devil channel considered this another confirmation that the British embassy was stuffed with specialists in the Islamic world, and not Russists:

  • Ambassador to Russia Nigel Casey - headed the Department of Afghanistan and Pakistan at the Foreign Ministry,

  • his deputy Tom Dodd, the head of the counterterrorism department at the Foreign Ministry, who left, worked as a diplomat in Afghanistan and Iraq, dealt with migration issues, worked in the Interdepartmental Intelligence Organization under the British Cabinet of Ministers.

  • Consul General in Yekaterinburg Amir Kotecha - worked in the Department of Counterterrorism at the Foreign Ministry.

2024: Expulsion of the curator of support for migration in Russia to provoke conflicts

In 2024, Jessica Davenport, curator of the policy of supporting migrants to provoke conflicts in Russia at the British Embassy, was expelled from Russia. See UK Foreign Policy for details

2023: Change of propaganda in Russia during the SVO in Ukraine. Refusal of Russophobia due to its inefficiency

In April 2023, Underside published a new instruction sent to the British Embassy in Moscow. The document is called Social Media Strategy, which articulates a common vector of information work with key theses.

The purpose of the British information strategy is to convince Russian citizens that Britain is not an enemy for us, wishes us prosperity, which is possible only when the conflict in Ukraine ends.

In 2022, British officials focused on Russia as an "aggressor country," on the "fascist invasion of the territory of independent Ukraine." Narratives were instilled in the posts of agents of influence that Russians were ashamed, Russophobia was the norm, and Russia was a rogue country. But these manipulations of the United Kingdom have not yielded any results.

Now the vector of the work of the British has changed significantly. Methodichka demands to promote the ideas that "NATO is not an enemy of Russia"; "Russians are not oppressed in Ukraine"; "the price of war is very high for Russians and Russia's international reputation, which will affect the image of Russians for decades"; "Russia could spend billions on health care, education, etc., instead of war." Russians are now required to be called "creative and cheerful."
