History

2021: Porsche and Rimac have created a joint venture for the production of hypercars

In early July 2021 Porsche Croatian , the manufacturer electric cars Rimac announced the creation of a joint venture, which will include French the manufacturer. Bugatti The new company will be called Bugatti-Rimac.

Rimac will own a 55% stake in the joint venture, and Porsche will own a 45% stake in the company. Partners said that Bugatti shares will move from Volkswagen, which owns Porsche and Bugatti, to Porsche, and then to Rimac. By July 2021, Porsche also owns a 24% stake in Rimac compared to the initial 10% in 2018.

Rimac Nevera Electric Hypercar

The joint venture involves the production of two models of hypercars: Bugatti Chiron with a capacity of 1,500 horsepower and an all-electric Rimac Nevera, which is estimated at $2.4 million and, according to developers, has a capacity of about 1,900 horsepower and can exceed 400 km/h. Bugatti Automobiles SAS will continue its operations in the new joint venture. In the future, all brand models will still be produced at the Bugatti plant in French Molseim. However, the R&D center of the combined manufacturer will be located at the Rimac headquarters in Croatia.

Porsche CEO Oliver Bloom and Porsche Finance and Information Technology Executive Board Deputy Chairman and Executive Board Member Lutz Sachke will become members of the Bugatti-Rimac Supervisory Board. Rimac founder Mate Rimatz will take over as CEO of the new enterprise.

At the time of the start of Bugatti-Rimac, the company will have about 430 employees, of which about 300 will be involved in the company's headquarters in Zagreb and 130 at the Bugatti production site in Molsheim.
