2023: T1 acquired Discovery Labs

In early July 2023, it became known that the multidisciplinary holding "T1" concluded an agreement on the acquisition of Discovery Labs, a subsidiary of the IT structure of Otkritie Bank.

According to reports, CNews as of the end of June 2023, approximately 800 employees work at Discovery Labs. These are developers, analysts and other specialists transferred at the end of 2022 from the IT division of Otkritie Bank. T1 bought Discovery Labs

It is noted that the purchase of Discovery Labs will allow the T1 holding to strengthen its position in the segment of fintech solutions for the Russian market, replenish the range of relevant products and expand the development team. Discovery Labs, among other things, has developed the Mycelium package for microservice platforms, which helps to control access to data, including information constituting service and banking secrets.

As part of the transaction, T1 Holding received a 99.9 percent stake in Discovery Labs. The remaining 0.1% belongs to the CEO of this company Andrei Gulidin. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Discovery Labs is a resident of Sirius and is on the list of accredited IT companies of the Ministry of Digital Science.

2022: Establishing a company

On June 28, 2022, Otkritie Bank announced the creation of a new company, within which it is planned to develop IT projects for the needs of the financial group. We are talking about Discovery Labs LLC, which will develop in the group as a software development center.

Otkritie Bank is systematically bringing software development to the created IT subsidiary Discovery Labs LLC. We have several applied IT platforms and applications of our own design and a significant number of personnel, "commented Sergey Rusanov, head of the board of the IT block of Otkritie Bank.

According to him, the company's staff included teams of fintech startups, as well as employees of foreign IT companies that left the Russian market. It is expected that by the end of 2022, 800 employees of the bank - developers, analysts, etc. will be transferred to Discovery Labs. The company has plans to introduce developments into the register of domestic software and develop new products within the framework of the INTC for the group's companies.

According to the press service of Otkritie, the bank expects to increase the attractiveness of the work of IT specialists by providing employees of the subsidiary with additional comfort and benefits for IT companies.

By the end of June 2022, Otkritie is included in the list of backbone credit institutions approved by the Bank of Russia. Otkritie develops all the main business areas of the classic universal bank: corporate, investment, retail, SME and Private Banking.
