The company makes 3D-printing titanic implants using technology of the selection laser melting. The main office EIT is located in the German city of Vurmlingen.
History
2018: Johnson & Johnson purchased EIT
On September 14, 2018 the American producer of the medical equipment Johnson & Johnson announced acquisition of Emerging Implant Technologies (EIT). Transaction amount does not reveal.
Products of EIT include implants from titanium alloy for a surgical spondilodez. They are made using the advanced technology allowing to combine high biocompatibility of titanium with the improved osteointegrative properties. The porous titanic framework with open and strong communications has special macro - micro and nanocharacteristics which facilitate process of integration of an implant. The portfolio of EIT Smart Spinal Fusion includes EIT for a lobby and a back intervertebral decompression and a spondilodez, EIT for a transforaminalny lumbar decompression and a cervical implant of EIT.
Orthopedic division J & J of DePuy Synthes will use the transaction to enter the products EIT into the line of implants for a spondilodez which is already including the self-extending samples and titanic implants with the integrated PEEK technology.
The products EIT will add a line in the field of mini-invasive and open surgery of a backbone. The company stated that it will continue to look for new methods of treatment which have the largest potential for surgeons and patients with such diseases as osteochondrosis and deformation of a backbone. DePuy Synthes is going to focus on mini-invasive surgery, biomaterials and high technology production.[1]
