2025: Approval of the creation of the center by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin

On May 12, 2025, it became known that the Russian government decided to create the thirteenth innovative scientific and technological center (INTC) "Valley of Fiztech" on the basis of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The key areas of activity of the new center will be quantum technologies, photonics, microelectronics, artificial intelligence, biomedical technologies and robotics.

According to Interfax, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko at an operational meeting with the head of government stressed that the INTC is an important tool for cooperation between science, education and business. He noted that the areas of activity chosen for the "Valley of Fiztech" are considered the most relevant not only in Russia, but throughout the world.

The scientific and technological center is designed to strengthen the scientific position of MIPT, and its residents will receive significant preferences, including tax and customs benefits. In particular, they will have a zero rate of VAT, property and land taxes, which will create favorable conditions for the development of innovative projects.

Dmitry Chernyshenko recalled that in 2025 MIPT took first place in the ranking of universities participating in the Priority-2030 program and received a grant of ₽1 billion. The institute is also one of the leaders in the volume of commercialization of research and development results. Since 2024, his income from research and development (R&D) amounted to more than ₽6,5 billion.

Mikhail Mishustin during the meeting expressed confidence that the "Valley of Fiztech" will make a significant contribution to the implementation of the priorities of the scientific and technological development of Russia. The Prime Minister noted that Moscow Fiztech has always been involved in the most significant state initiatives, including space and nuclear programs, and it has a solid base and vast experience to carry out such tasks.[1]
