2020: Beginning of production of construction robots
In the middle of July, 2020 the South Korean company Hyundai Robotics announced that it integrated with Hyundai Engineering & Construction for development of the robotic platforms intended for the construction sector. Two branches Hyundai Heavy Industries Group signed the memorandum of cooperation in research and development of construction robotics.
According to the agreement of the company will begin to develop jointly robotic platforms for building sites and also mobile service robots and the main technologies for autonomous driving on building sites and in buildings.
Robots will be used for drilling of openings and also for painting, welding and a laying of a brick. Hyundai Robotics will be responsible for development of robots and technologies of visualization while Hyundai Engineering & Construction will work on technologies of traffic control and technologies of independent driving.
Besides, the companies jointly will develop the software for integration of internal and outside technologies of independent driving. Both companies will also estimate possibilities of business of mobile service robots which can provide such services as delivery of sendings to apartments and offices.
According to the American research firm Global Industry Analyst, it is expected that the world market of construction robots will grow for 16.4% annually since 2020 and will reach $252.5 million by 2027 so all investments of Hyundai branches should pay off many times over.
