2024: Azimut Hotels bought Ibis Kazan Hotel

In August 2024, it became known that the largest Russian hotel chain Azimut Hotels completed the acquisition of the Ibis Kazan hotel, located in the center of the capital of Tatarstan. Operating on Pravo-Bulachnaya Street since 2009, the facility was previously operated by French operator Accor, however it will now come under the Azimut Hotels brand. The deal amounted to about ₽1,5 billion.

According to the Ibis RBC Kazan hotel includes 155 rooms with a total area of ​ ​ 5.9 thousand square meters. m. In addition, the hotel has a restaurant bar, three conference rooms and a working area. Initially, the construction and equipment of the hotel cost Kesco, which acted as the customer of the project, ₽520 million. In 2009, when the facility was inaugurated, the ceremony was attended by the head and Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov then ambassador France to Jean Russia de Gliniasti.

A representative of Azimut Hotels said that the chain intends to update the room stock and upgrade the hotel to four stars, although specific plans for modernization have not yet been announced. Ibis Kazan is located near key tourist attractions in Kazan such as Kazan Kremlin, Bauman Street and Lake Nizhny Kaban, making it an attractive investment target.

Azimut Hotels continues to actively expand its presence in the Russian hotel market. The chain operates more than 65 hotels and sanatoriums in 45 cities, including well-known facilities such as Metropol in Moscow and the "Metropol Grand Hotel" in Gelendzhik. The chain's owner, businessman Alexander Klyachin, is also developing new projects, including the launch of the Libra chain of five-star hotels and the acquisition of other hotel facilities in Russia.[1]
