Metropol is a legendary luxury hotel with unique architecture, built on the initiative of philanthropist Savva Mamontov in 1901. The hotel building is an outstanding monument of Moscow Art Nouveau, in the creation of which the best architects, artists, sculptors of the late XIX - early XX centuries took part. Metropol is located in the center of Moscow, a three-minute walk from Red Square, the Kremlin and the Bolshoi Theater.
2012: Moscow City Hall sells hotel to Alexander Klyachin for 8.8 billion rubles
In August 2012, Alexander Klyachin acquired the Metropol Hotel from the Moscow City Hall at a record price of 8.8 billion rubles (about $280 million). The new owner committed to the preservation of this historical and architectural monument.

1901: Savva Mamontov builds hotel
The hotel was built on the initiative of the famous entrepreneur Savva Mamontov at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It was equipped with technical innovations outlandish at that time - elevators, refrigerators, telephones, and a centralized supply of hot water in the rooms was organized. Savva Morozov attracted the artist Vrubel to the design of the building, who created unique stained glass windows and panels on the facade of the hotel.
