Geographical location: located in the North-West of Russia, it includes the Petrozavodsk urban district, Kondopozhsky, Lakhdenpokh, Medvezhyegorsky, Olonetsky, Pitkyarantsky, Prionezhsky, Pryazhinsky, Pudozhsky, Sortavalsky, Suoyarsky districts of the Republic of Karelia. It was founded on May 22/June 4, 1828, restored on July 19, 1990. By the decision of the Holy Synod of May 29, 2013, it became part of the Karelian Metropolis.
