The Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God to Yasenevo was put in 2007 at the initiative of the Most Saint Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alexy II. The total area of the five-domed temple with rabbets is equal to 1425 sq.m, height is 36 m.
The architectural complex of the Pokrovsk temple is executed in the Byzantine traditions of the XII—XIII centuries. The feature of the bottom level of the temple consists that all its space is given for implementation of the unique architectural project which received the name "Icon of the Holy Land". Here in one place exact copies of five greatest Christian shrines – the Lord's Coffin, the Stone of the Unction, the Tomb of the Mother of God, Golgotha, the Star of Bethlehem, also the Water carrier from Cana of Galilee, Columns of Sacred Fire are collected. The total area of a mosaic surface of the Pokrovsk Temple is equal to 2.5 thousand sq.m that concedes only to grandiose mosaic "cloths" in the main Venetian cathedral — St. Mark's Basilica (the XI—XIII centuries). The internal space of cathedral is occupied by 8 thousand sq.m, all walls and codes are decorated mosaic to compositions.
