However, he noted that the retailer may delay payment to counterparties, which may lead to difficulties in the implementation of the project.

According to the newspaper's interlocutor in the electronics market, VVP Group, renting Samsung's facilities, planned to produce its own household appliances. However, the cost of such production "turned out to be high, including due to the unloaded capacity of the plant."[1]

The Russian Samsung plant works, but "it is not known on which components, officially now the South Korean company does not supply spare parts," says Gleb Mishin, head of the Russian representative office of Candy-Hoover Group (part of the Chinese Haier group). He confirms that Samsung sells stocks of TVs in Russia to the CIS countries, but Mishin does not know whether this equipment is returning to the domestic market.

Kommersant found out that in the stores of Samsung branded retail, which is managed by Inventive Retail Group (IRG), by the beginning of July 2022, goods intended for sale in the EAEU countries are sold. The press service of Samsung noted that they continue to cooperate with IRG, including on service issues.

The Kaluga region produces most of all Samsung TVs sold in Russia, as well as monitors and washing machines. The plant has not worked since March 24, 2022 due to problems with the import of components. Earlier that month, Samsung announced a temporary halt in the export of all products to the Russian market. The manufacturer noted that due to the current geopolitical situation, the company, among other things, stops deliveries from microchips to smartphones and consumer electronics.

According to the Yonhap news agency, the reason for the cessation of supplies to Russia was the "problem with the shipment of goods." Stopping TV production

Samsung has suspended the assembly of TVs at its plant in the Kaluga region. This became known on March 22, 2022. The reason was a shortage of components, including LCD panels, caused by logistics problems.

It, in turn, was the result of international sanctions that hit Russia from dozens of countries in response to a special operation in the DPR and LPR. As a result, most of the supply chains were broken, and supplies for the remaining ones were difficult due to the unstable ruble exchange rate.

In early March 2022, citing all the same logistics problems, Samsung stopped supplying its products to Russia. This affected, among other things, smartphones, although Samsung is the leader in the Russian mobile market, as well as household appliances. A few days later, the restrictions extended to televisions.

Samsung representatives could not answer the question about the timing of the suspension of TV in Kaluga on March 22, 2022.

The Kaluga Region plant produced not only televisions, but also household appliances, including washing machines, which were then exported to various countries. Europe

As for the release of TV, the Kaluga Samsung plant collected the lion's share of all the company's TVs present in domestic retail. The exact number of TVs produced on it has not been established.

Not only Russians may suffer from the suspension of production of Samsung TVs in Russia. The country may have a shortage of these models, but the fact is also that the plant's products were exported to a number of other countries.

Thus, the plant carried out direct deliveries to Kazakhstan, Moldova and Mongolia, and through the Russian representative office of Samsung the TV collected on it was shipped to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus and Georgia. Samsung's office in Kazakhstan redirected them to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

As of March 22, 2022, it is not known whether Samsung in Russia has partners in the production of TVs in its own factories.

Plus, the Kaluga Samsung plant is hundreds of workplaces. As of July 2019, more than 1000 residents of the Kaluga Region worked on it. It is not yet clear how the suspension of TV production will affect their work activity[4].

2014: Russian Samsung plant will become less harmful to the environment

In September 2014, the authorities of the Kaluga Region announced that the Samsung plant in the Vorsino industrial park had completed the installation of treatment facilities created on the basis of modern technologies. The construction lasted 8 months, and the investment of the Korean corporation in this project amounted to $10 million.

At the opening of the facilities, Samsung said that in December last year, their company decided to build its own complex of treatment facilities in order to reduce the burden on the municipal water treatment system.

The capacity of the treatment facilities built is 300 cubic meters of wastewater per day with the possibility of increasing to 600, and they occupy an area of 1865 square meters. m

A feature of the technology used in treatment plants in the company is called a membrane bioreactor, which made it possible to build structures 4 times more compact than conventional ones of the same capacity. In addition, the structures use modern methods of biological treatment of water, which allow removing heavy metal particles from water.

Samsung representatives noted that modern methods of biological treatment not only meet all the requirements of the Vorsino industrial park for the quality of wastewater, but also exceed them: "Water after processing is significantly cleaner than it was originally supplied to the plant."

The government of the Kaluga region, in turn, noted that, despite the concentration of powerful industrial facilities in the region, the region remains one of the most environmentally friendly territories in the Central Federal District, since all enterprises wishing to place their production in the Kaluga region are undergoing strict environmental expertise.
