2018: Luxoft purchased Smashing Ideas
On June 18, 2018 the software developer of Luxoft announced purchase of Smashing Ideas from the world's largest publishing house Penguin Random House which owned the creative agency since 2011. The financial component and also other terms of agreement does not reveal. It is known that as the financial advisor of Penguin Random House within the transaction the GP Bullhound company acted.
Luxoft reported that the company, having absorbed Smashing Ideas, will be able to amplify in such directions as digital researches, strategy and opportunities in the field of design. Purchase will expand opportunities in all areas of work of Luxoft (Digital Enterprise, Financial Services and Automotive) and also will support practice of horizontal digital transformation of Luxoft Digital.
Besides, the transaction expands a range of services which can provide both companies, "creating a unique market position which accelerates work of clients at all stages of their lifecycle", the press release says.
According to the CEO and the president of Luxoft Dmitry Loshchinin, acquisition supplements possibilities of the company in the field of design and business strategy that allows Luxoft "to appreciate even more the strategic clients and partners".
The CEO of Smashing Ideas Brian Burke says that his company as a part of Luxoft will be able to service global clients in different corners of the world and will quicker bring products to the market, and profound technical knowledge of Luxoft in a blockchain, Internet of Things and machine learning will expand the scale of corporate business of Smashing Ideas.[1]
