Transtelecom Kazakhstan

JSC "Transtelecom" is one of the largest Kazakhstani telecom operators. The company was established in 1998 through the reorganization of PDH "Head Communication Distance." The company is located in Astana, the number of employees is 2662 people.

Transtelecom provides local, long-distance and international communications, network access, Internet mobile radiotelephone, cellular communications, mobile radio communications, personal radio calls and other telecommunication services.

In addition, Transtelecom creates and operates satellite and radio relay telecommunication systems, produces and implements means of radio and wire communication, television, information processing and transmission, and performs architectural design for buildings and structures.

History

2022: IT project of Kazakhstan and Russia for 2.4 billion rubles frozen

At the end of October 2022, it became known about the freezing of the IT project of Kazakhstan and Russia for 2.4 billion rubles. We are talking about a contract that was concluded between the Safe Information Zone company (Bison, a partner of Sberbank, which was previously part of its structures) and the Kazakh JSC Transtelecom. 2021: Completion of the privatisation of the company

In March 2021, the privatization of Transtelecom was completed. According to the decree of the Government of Kazakhstan "On the alienation of a strategic object," a 75% stake in the telecom operator minus one security was transferred to Unit Telecom, co-owned by the chairman of the board of directors of Transtelecom Nurali Aliyev.

Kazakhstan "Transtelecom" privatized

The latter also owns investment holding Capital Holding and shares in venture capital fund Nd Capital. The second co-founder of Unit Telecom is Dmitry Purchasing. He is also on the board of directors of Transtelecom.

The process of privatization of JSC Transtelecom shares was implemented by the government Kazakhstan in pursuance of the head's instructions states on the need for privatization and reduction of the quasi-public sector of the economy.^[1]

2018

Marlene Mukhanov bought a 26% stake in Transtelecom

In May 2018, 26% of the stake minus one share of Transtelecom was bought out as part of the second wave of privatization as a result of trading in an open two-stage tender. Then the transaction cost amounted to 9.45 billion tenge.

The owner of the share was the little-known Marlene Mukhanov, follows from the decree of the Government of Kazakhstan on the alienation of the strategic asset from state property. This is also confirmed on the website of the register of enterprises with state participation. However, in KASE's official stock exchanges, Mukhanov was previously mentioned as an attorney for President Nurali Aliyev's grandson.

Before the transaction, Marlene Mukhanov already owned a 49% stake in Transtelecom. Thus, in 2018, he began to own 75% of the company minus one share.

The total amount of the transaction in nominal terms for a package of 75% minus one share as a result amounted to almost 18.4 billion tenge, and the total value of Transtelecom was estimated at 24.5 billion tenge.

Launch a cross-border network transition in conjunction with TransTeleCom

TransTeleCom Company (TTK), a telecom operator in Russia, and Kazakh operator Transtelecom on October 23, 2018 announced the implementation of a joint project to launch a cross-border network transition. The junction in the network infrastructures of operators is organized between the Aksarayskaya station from the Russian side and the D. Nurpeisova station in Kazakhstan.

The interconnect is made using WDM (wavelength-division multiplexing) technology, which allows you to simultaneously transmit several information channels over one optical fiber at different carrier frequencies at speeds up to 100 Gb/s. As a result of the launch of the transboundary crossing, a highly reliable route was formed, most of which is geographically located in protected zones of railway exclusion that are not areas of general operation. The organization of the junction made it possible to form a transit data transmission route between Europe and Asia, as well as the most convenient and shortest route to Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, the TransTeleCom noted. Operators have a valid network junction in Petropavlovsk in Northern Kazakhstan.

The launch of the second joint will increase the connectivity of Kazakhstan's Transtelecom network with the Russian segment and with global network resources, Internet as well as offer customers geographically distributed routes to improve the reliability of networks.

As of October 2018, TransTeleCom network infrastructure has 19 cross-border crossings with networks of 32 foreign operators.

2016: $12 million allocated by EDB to Kazakhstan's Transtelecom

Kazakhstan Transtelecom received $12 million in a loan from the Eurasian Development Bank for the development of new projects.

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has opened a credit line in the amount of $12 million for the leading TV operator of Kazakhstan - Transtelecom.

Among the company's plans to develop the loan is the organization of Internet access on the railway of Kazakhstan, as well as the implementation of a number of new projects, including the creation of an IT structure at the Astana EXPO-2017 facilities.

Earlier, the EDB has already financed the Transtelecom project to create an automated system for accounting, analysis and control of energy consumption on railway rolling stock.

2015:49% sale

In May 2015, 49% of Transtelecom's shares were sold as a result of trading by JSC NK KTZ in the method of an open two-stage tender and a government decree.
