2020: Olympus purchased Veran Medical Technologies for $340 million
At the beginning of December, 2020 Olympus announced acquisition of Veran Medical Technologies (VMT) for $340 million. The buyer makes out the transaction through the subsidiary company - Olympus Corporation of the Americas (OCA). The transaction purpose for Olympus - to strengthen the positions in the industry of the medical equipment due to expansion of the division of therapeutic solutions, reported in the press release.

In particular, Olympus intends to integrate the endoscopic technologies with the navigation products VMT and to develop the optimized diagnostic system of peripheral lung cancer. The Olympus company expects that acquisition of VMT immediately will begin to bring it an additional income in the market of the USA as its endoscopic technologies already take a leading place among the systems of a bronchoscopy.
