2018: Director of Digitalization of Rosatom

In May 2018, Ekaterina Solntseva was appointed Director of Digitalization at Rosatom (Chief Digital Officer, CDO). TAdviser became aware of this from a representative of the state corporation.

According to TAdviser, in his new position, Solntseva is responsible for the development of Rosatom's digital strategy, which is faced with the task of consolidating all digital activities and efforts of the state corporation. Ultimately, the company plans to move towards a single digital platform, a single use of data.

Since the beginning of 2018, Rosatom has been operating a digital transformation directorate, which coordinates activities related to digitalization. Its task is to interact with the structures and divisions of Rosatom in order to create a single digital strategy.

In addition to using digital technologies for internal needs, Rosatom is also their supplier. In May 2018, the deputy general director of the state corporation that in the Kirill Komarov told activities of Rosatom to create nuclear power plants for third-party customers, at least 20% of the business has already become digital.

2025: Appointment as Director of Quantum Technologies at Rosatom

Ekaterina Solntseva, appointed director of quantum technologies at Rosatom State Corporation, the state corporation said in February 2025. As a result of the implementation of the roadmap for "Quantum Computing" in 2020-2024. was "a serious breakthrough of Russia in the global quantum race." Rosatom has taken a leading position: working quantum computers have been created on all 4 priority platforms (ions, atoms, photons, superconductors), on which quantum computers are being developed. This result has been achieved only by three countries - the United States, China and Russia. Also during this period, the Russian Federation became one of six countries that have quantum computers with a volume of 50 qubits or more.

On the horizon until 2030, Rosatom, along with quantum computing, will coordinate the high-tech direction "Quantum Sensors." The priority of the new stage will be the practical application of quantum technologies in industry and the social sphere. With the appointment of Ekaterina Solntseva to a new position, the directions of IT and digitalization in the state corporation are now headed by Evgeny Abakumov as director of information and digital technologies. Previously, he was responsible for the IT direction at Rosatom.
