On September 30, 2018 the Dell company presented the updated portfolio of Precision workstations where models in rack, desktop and mobile execution entered at the Russian market.

The workstation of the rack Dell Precision 3930 Rack type developed taking into account wishes of clients of Dell provides high performance and at the same time occupies a space minimum. The reduced depth gives the increased density in a rack, the expanded range of working temperature and additional opportunities, such as filters of dust and ports allowing to use the workstation for the solution of difficult tasks of diagnostic imaging in medicine and automation in the industry noted in Dell.

With processors Intel Xeon E and Intel Core the 8th generation the rack workstation supports up to 64 GB of RAM of DDR4 with a frequency of 2666 MHz. When using Intel Xeon processors E the Error Correcting Code (ECC) technology is used for the increased reliability.

The workstation provides a high rate of performance, it supports up to two video cards Nvidia Quadro or AMD Radeon Pro with a power up to 250 W and up to 24 TB general capacities of drives. Thanks to existence of three PCIe connectors, including the optional PCI connector, this system is capable to solve complex problems, claim in Dell.

As the producer noted, the Dell Precision 3930 Rack workstation will provide flexible, reliable and quick remote access with the optional Teradici PCOIP technology allowing to connect zero clients with support up to four displays. The workstation is easily integrated into a data processing center, saving users from noise, abundance of cables and excess of warm air in a workplace that also facilitates ensuring control of physical access to the workstation.

According to the statement of the producer, the desktop Dell Precision 3630 Tower workstation is 23% less in comparison with the previous generation, at the same time bears more opportunities for expansion that allows to configure precisely such solution what is necessary for employees and not to depend at the same time on workplace space. The model is equipped a number of ports, with their help it is possible to connect to the workstation external drives, data sources and many other things. Because workstations are often used for creation of intellectual property, Dell is offered by the optional reader of Smart Card (CAC/PIV) for safe work with data.

The workstation, according to the producer, is suitable for creation and reproduction VR- content and accomplishment of other resource-intensive tasks. The model is equipped processors Intel with Core i of the 8th generation and Xeon E professional grades with faster memory — with a frequency up to 2666 MHz — with a capacity up to 64 GB and everyone allows to install up to two video cards Nvidia Quadro or AMD Radeon Pro with a power of 225 W.

The Dell Precision 3630 Tower system can be equipped with drives with the SATA interface and NVMe flash memory with the PCIe interface, the configuration with a capacity up to 14 TB and support of RAID is possible.

The Dell Precision 3430 workstation in a small form factor is suitable for work of several users at once. It offers practically the same opportunities, as Precision 3630, but only in more compact execution. But in this case the maximum capacity of a storage device subsystem is reduced up to 6 TB, energy consumption of video cards is limited on value of 55 W, the producer emphasized.

Dell Precision workstations of series 3000 support technology of memory Intel Optane, providing the high speed of reaction and low costs of high-capacity storage. Dell noted that workstations support professional tools, such as Dell Reliable Memory Technology Pro technology (with memory of ECC) for protection of files against unforeseen failures by shutdown of problem sections of RAM and the software of Dell Precision Optimizer based on artificial intelligence technology which automatically customizes a system for ensuring the accelerated operation of applications. For example, the Dell Precision Optimizer Premium utility based on artificial intelligence is capable to accelerate engineering applications at most for 552%.

On September 30, 2018 the Dell company provided three more models of the mobile workstations developed for those who often are in business trips, at meetings or exit meetings.

The Precision 15 workstation of series 5000 (5530) is provided in silvery (Platinum Silver) and gray (Brushed Onyx) flowers. It is equipped with the advanced cooling system, the Intel processors Core of the 8th generation and 6-core Intel Xeon processors, a graphic subsystem of AMD Radeon Pro or Nvidia Quadro.

According to the statement of the producer, this system can be completed with professional VR-ready the graphic Nvidia Quadro P3200 card for developers of content of virtual and augmented reality. Memory of SuperSpeed with a frequency of 3200 MHz will help to accelerate operation of applications. This model differs in large volume for data storage — 128 GB. It supports video transmission in permission 8K and HDR technologies through uniform port DisplayPort 1.4.

Precision 17 of series 7000 (7730) is powerful mobile workstation which provides performance of a desktop system in portable execution. The model supports up to 8 TB capacities of the built-in drives and up to 128 GB of high-speed RAM. According to the producer, users have an opportunity to consider the most fine details of the projects in the video modes up to Ultra HD thanks to Dell PremierColor technology and support of permission of HDR and 8K, at the same time only one cable allows to connect both the DisplayPort 1.4 interfaces, and the Dual Thunderbolt 3 interfaces.

Transition to Linux

In the middle November, 2017 Dell Precision computers began to be on sale with the preset Linux operating system. The first five models are produced.

On November 14, 2017 began to offer Dell the monoblock Dell Precision 5720 PC and also the Precision 5520, Precision 3520, Precision 7520 and Precision 7720 notebooks equipped with the Ubuntu distribution kit. The Ubuntu-laptop Dell Precision 5520 with the 15.6-inch display, the Intel processor Core i5-7440HQ, 8 Gbytes of OZU and the 500-gigabyte hard drive is estimated at $1098.

The minimum price of Dell Precision 3520 is $879. This model is in many respects similar to Dell Precision 5520 and 4 Gbytes of RAM and less high-quality display differ.

Dell Precision 7520 and Precision 7720 is notebooks with similar specifications which have 15-and 17-inch screens respectively, Intel Xeon processors and up to 64 Gbytes of OZU. On August 14, 2017 the Dell company announced replenishment of a product line of Precision desktop models by mobile workstation of Precision 5520.
