2024: Scheduled for completion in 2027. Total budget - 30 billion rubles

The most powerful supercomputer in the country will appear on the basis of the data processing center (DPC) of Sberbank under construction in the Saratov region, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said in February 2024.

The executive authorities of the region, together with PJSC Sberbank and PJSC Rosseti, agreed to build the largest data center for the bank back in 2020. The final phase of the project is scheduled for 2027. The new data center will house about 3 thousand racks with computing equipment - about 120 thousand servers. At the same time, the total area of technological modules will be 62.4 thousand square meters, and peak electricity consumption - up to 82 MW. The cost of building a new data center is estimated at 30 billion rubles.

2022: Chernyshenko: Sberbank's data center under construction will become the largest in Russia

In early September 2022, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko visited the construction site of the regional data processing center of Sberbank in Balakov. According to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, this data center will become the largest in Russia.

He noted that Ministry of Digital Development an order was given together with Sber to work out the issue of using the computing infrastructure of the regional center for georegulated reservation of services of the digital platform "" and State that. state clouds This will increase the security of these citizens and will be another step towards ensuring technological sovereignty, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized. He added data center that he would be able to provide capacities not only to the Saratov region and the regions of the Volga Federal District, but also to neighboring federal districts.

The data processing center in the Saratov region is a regional platform for storing and processing bank data and is the first stage in the development of the program for the construction of a network of regional data centers "Sberbank." The development of the site is planned in three stages over the next three years, the Cabinet of Ministers said on September 2, 2022.

First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Stanislav Kuznetsov said that the implementation of the project will create about 200 highly qualified workplaces. This will be the first regional data center of the bank, he said.

The start of construction was given by the Chairman Governments of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank. Stanislav Kuznetsov

During the construction of the data center, Sberbank technologies will be used: an intelligent cooling system using natural forces, and a load control system designed to minimize power consumption. According to Sberbank's idea, the sharing of these systems will lead to a reduction in electricity consumption by 30% without reducing fault tolerance, which will subsequently reduce the carbon footprint of the data center and positively affect the ecology of the region.

The project will be implemented in a special economic zone on the most favorable conditions, including free connection to engineering networks. The project business plan is being developed in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation dated March 23, 2006 No. 75.

A data center with a total area of more than 55 thousand square meters consists of 7 modules, each of which houses 500 19-inch 48 unit racks. Power ratio - from 12 to 15 kW per rack. The technical solutions used in the project ensure high energy efficiency of the facility under construction. The annual energy efficiency assessment (Power Utilization Efficiency) of the facility under construction is planned in the range from 1.1 to 1.4.

2020: Conclusion of an agreement with the government of the Saratov region for the construction of a data center

In December 2020 Sberbank , he agreed government of the Saratov region construction data center with Balakovo. A memorandum of intent was signed between Sberbank, the regional government and PJSC "." Russian networks The building area will be 59,265 square meters (taking into account the administrative block and free-standing buildings of guaranteed power supply systems), and the area of machine rooms and process modules - 10,380 and 62,436 square meters, respectively.

The data center will be equipped with at least 3,000 racks with computing equipment (approximately 120,000 servers) with consumption from 12 kW (in the machine rooms of the first stage technological modules) to 15 kW (in the machine rooms of the second and third stages technological modules). The peak consumption of the data center will be up to 82 MW. The target average annual power efficiency (PUE) through energy efficient solutions is not expected to exceed 1.3.

Sberbank agreed to build a data center in the Saratov region

The data center will be certified in accordance with the third level of fault tolerance (according to the classification of the Uptime Institute). Schematic engineering solutions of engineering systems will ensure their competitive maintenance and repair without compromising the availability of information systems located in the data center.

The range of climatic operational stability of the data center engineering infrastructure will range from ‒ 42 оС to + 45 оС. Redundancy according to N + 1 scheme will be provided for guaranteed power supply systems and cooling systems of data center computing equipment. 2N redundancy will be provided for uninterrupted power supply systems of computer equipment and critical mechanical systems.

The data center will be built in three stages. The first is planned to be completed in the first quarter of 2023, the second - in January-March 2025, the third - in the first quarter of 2027.[2]
