ZF ProAI is the automatic control system the vehicle with the AI elements based on technology on Nvidia Drive PX technology.
The scalable control block of ZF ProAI has upgradeability through cloud services. A system is based on algorithms of artificial intelligence for the applications providing communication between the vehicle and infrastructure and at the same time is self-trained.
The control block can also exchange data with other vehicles and react to a surrounding situation, i.e. work by the principle of "royevy intelligence" that does work of motor transportation parks of safer.
ZF Friedrichshafen AG develops the ZF ProAI system in cooperation with Nvidia. ZF expects to make such drive not only for passenger and trucks, but also for the agricultural and construction equipment and also for application in the industrial purposes.
2018: Use in the Chery cars
In January, 2018 the name of the new partner of Nvidia who will use technologies of the American company for creation of cars with self-government functions became known. It is about the Chinese car maker Chery Automobile.
The machines Chery will be equipped with the ProAI system based on Nvidia Drive PX technology and developed together with the companies Baidu and ZF Friedrichshafen. Drive PX — this family of automobile computers with artificial intelligence which differ in opportunities of complete autonomy, the circular overview and, the most important, in deep learning.
Based on ProAI in Chery vehicles the systems of the active help to the driver will be implemented. What, it is not specified, however Chery reports that it will build cars of the third level of autonomy.
As notes the TechCrunch edition, not seldom there are disputes on a possibility of use of auto pilots of the third level in machines. Such technologies demand from the driver of complete concentration on the road that it was possible to undertake driving at any time. Opponents of such developments say that, the people who got used to functions of automatic control will not be able to control properly a car in situations when the computer does not cope.
Chery is going to bring to the commercial market models with auto pilots of the third level, however does not call exact terms. Most likely, such motor transport, despite high technology equipment, will differ all the same in low cost, as well as other products of the Chinese vendor.
The cars using the ProAI platform can be equipped with lidars, radars and the system of video cameras for object recognition at the movement. Baidu helps cards of high resolution and a software platform of Apollo. Chery will become the first Chinese car maker who implemented this system.
Technologies for self-governed machines from Nvidia use several car makers, including Tesla Motors.[1]
