Passport

Unlike Ukraine and Russia, there is no internal passport in Belarus, every Belarusian has the right to travel outside the country and prove his identity within the country using a single passport.

The passport with the blue cover was approved in 2010.

With the consent of a citizen, a record is made in his passport about the blood type and Rh factor, as well as about the nationality of the owner.

In June 2020, amendments were adopted to the Law on Citizenship in terms of the procedure for obtaining citizenship. For foreigners permanently residing in the republic and wishing to join Belarusian citizenship, the period of residence has been reduced from seven to five years. Also, those who have received higher education in the country and have been working here for at least three years can apply for citizenship on a preferential basis.

In the Henley & Partners Passport Index for 2020, the Belarusian passport ranks 69th with visa-free access to 75 countries of the world.

In February 2012, the Belarusian opposition accused President Alexander Lukashenko of betraying national interests. The reason for sharp criticism of the head of state was his statement that the Belarusian army would be partially financed by Moscow. The newspaper Kommersant writes about this on February 9.

A. Lukashenko explained Russia's possible participation in the maintenance of the Belarusian armed forces by the need to increase the monetary allowance of military personnel, as well as the construction of housing for them. At a meeting with Secretary of State of the Security Council Leonid Maltsev and Defense Minister Yuri Zhadobin, the President of Belarus said that the two states "practically have a common army."

A. Lukashenko considers it unfair that the size of the monetary allowance of the military personnel of Russia and Belarus is different. In addition to increasing soldiers' salaries, Moscow can co-sponsor the growth of income of Belarusian security officials. According to the Belarusian leader, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has already promised to help in the allocation of additional funds. However, sources in the Kremlin told the publication that a specific decision on this issue has not yet been made.

The leader of the Belarusian opposition movement "For Freedom" Alexander Milinkevich believes that "asking for money to finance the army is an insult to the Belarusian military." According to him, participation Moscow in financing the country's armed forces is "an even greater danger than the transition of Belarus to Russian." ruble

Political analyst Ales Litvinets believes that Russian-Belarusian military cooperation and American assistance to Israel and Egypt cannot be compared. "The Americans do not pay salaries to the Israeli military, and the American president does not regret the separation of the supposedly united nation and does not propose Israel's entry into the United States by the 51st state, as well as the introduction of a dollar instead of shekel," he stressed[1].
