2020: Start of division for blockchain researches

In the middle of September, 2020 it became known that the Central Intelligence Agency of the USA (CIA) opened new research division of CIA Labs. It will research blockchain technologies and also artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, quantum computings, biotechnologies.

The new research division of CIA is the registered member of Federal laboratory consortium of transfer of technologies into which enter over federal laboratories and the research organizations.

According to the statement of CIA, the staff of management, educational institutions and the private sector will be involved in development of scientific and technical solutions.

CIA Labs will concentrate on improvement and completion of already existing solutions and also development of new methods of the solution of scientific and technology problems, said in the statement of department.

In the press release it is noted that thanks to CIA Labs the staff of CIA will be able to register patents for the activity and to receive percent from profit. The head of management of science and technologies of CIA Don Meyerriks noted:

Some phenomenal innovations were created by CIA on an extent of many years, thanks to CIA Labs now we locate the improved opportunities for optimization of developments and further investment into our scientists and technologists. B conditions of constantly changing landscape of threats of CIA Labs will help us to save competitiveness and to protect our country.

The American administration still considers a blockchain as a revolutionary factor in optimization of different sectors. For example, in July, 2020 through the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) it said that it considers a blockchain as one of technology innovations which will help to adjust all processes connected with implementation of foodstuff.^[1]
