The Kingsoft Office Software company was founded in 1989 in China. Its key product is the WPS Office office suite compatible to Microsoft Office and allowing to browse, create and edit documents in the DOC, DOCX, TXT, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX formats.

Initially it was developed for the PC running Windows OS, also the version under Linux appeared afterwards. With market development of the mobile devices Kingsoft Office Software released versions of WPS Office and for them – the packet can be used under iOS and Android.

According to Kingsoft Office, as of fall of 2015 of WPS Office totals about 1.1 billion registered users worldwide, about a half of whom is the share of versions for the PC and as much – on mobile devices where with a big separation devices on Android OS are in the lead.

WPS Office is positioned as "an alternative of Microsoft Office No. 1", speak in the company. "Any user of Microsoft Office – our potential client", the vice president for sales of Kingsoft Office Software Rene Buhay notes.

The chairman of the board of directors and the co-founder of Kingsoft Office Software is Lei Jun, he is the founder of the Chinese company Xiaomi which for several years became the leading supplier of smartphones in China, having bypassed Apple and Samsung.

International business

Rene Bukhey told TAdviser that till 2013 the company worked, mainly, only in China, including Taiwan and Hong Kong, and in Japan. In the fall of 2013 it opened office in Palo Alto in the USA which became the headquarters of the international business of Kingsoft Office Software outside Asia.

The countries of BRICS are one of the most attractive markets for the company, the vice president for sales of Kingsoft Office Software notes. In China the company conducts direct sales, and in India and Brazil, as well as in Russia, is going to conduct sales through partners. According to Rene Bukheya, as of November in India his company was already defined with whom will sign the distribution agreement, and in Brazil is in search so far.

As of 2015 WPS Office in mobile version is available in 48 languages, data brought TAdviser into the companies. The version of a packet for the PC in Russian appeared in the middle of 2015, mobile was available long before it.
